Some Questions

I just had a few questions about the merging of the companies, as I'm not familiar with the aspects of it:

1. Just to reclarify, it was Activision and Vivendi that merged, right? Not Activision and Blizzard as the name suggests?

2. I noticed on the list that Crash Bandicoot is not up there. Does this mean that Crash bandicoot is still going to be published by Vivendi Games or is it not up there because Crash is still directly being produced by Sierra?

3. Does this mean that there's a possibilty for Crash Bandicoot in a Tony Hawk game? (I know it's a dumb question but I was curious.)

Some answers:

1. Yes.

2. I don't think every franchise that VG and Activision own can be on the short list on the article page. VG will probably not be publishing anything anymore, because VG does not exist anymore. It is Activision Blizzard, and they're most likely to be the ones with their name plastered all over the box.

3. Yes, but it's wrong.

If you look at the corporate board of Activision-Blizzard and ownership stake, Activision effectively bought out Blizzard. Looking through the current board of directors, Blizzard has no obvious representative, whereas Actvision has at least 2 (chairman Brian G. Kelly and CEO Bobby Kotick). I wish someone who knows Wikipedia wiki-lawyering would find a way to represent this info in the article (it isn't me). --70.231.139.7 (talk) 17:01, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

It was created by merging Activision (a lone company) and Vivendi Entertainment (owned by Vivendi) to create the new company. The reason it says 56% ownership is because they have only that much controlling power. I don't know enough to go into detail, but it comes down to some form of financial support. The other shareholders don't have anything to do with the creation of the company. StarfoxRoy 18:34, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Nationality

People seem to be mixed up when it comes to the nationality of the company. Just because the parent company is French, doesn't mean that the company itself is. Activision Blizzard is not based in, does not develop in, and has nothing to do with France in any way shape or form. It is based in the USA, nowhere else at all. The only tiny bit of France in this company is it's parent company, Vivendi, and does this article talk about Vivendi? No, it is not French owned as it is a publicly traded company and not a subsidiary of Vivendi. Vivendi is the majority share holder and thus has a controlling stake in the company but they are not the owners. Activision Blizzard is an American company as their Headquarters are based in the United States. They are not a French company and they are not French owned. Drasill (talk) 17:41, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Lack of Quality

Since the merger between Activision, I have noticed a steep decline in the quality of the two companies. Activision itself has seemed to become a greedy powerhouse that is looking to nothing but monopoly. Understandible, if it makes money, you do it. However, from experience I have in playing their games, especially World of Warcraft. That game has suffered since it's first expansion, and ever since the merger, noticable radical changes are being made. Many of which, none like. However, another little thing that they have done, was attempting to whip Infinity Ward. Now, that story makes for great justice, but it just another example of how downhill this company is going. Mostly I would agree with you, but Mists if Pandaria was and is a pretty good expansion. For the most part, though, the merger with Activision has been mostly bad for Blizzard. The Activision influence was clearly seen in Diablo III which is one of the worst games ever produced by Blizzard and Activision's influence was probably instrumental in the inclusion of the now removed real-money auction house. --70.231.139.7 (talk) 17:08, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
