- They weren't references. They may have been External links or Further reading. See MOS:FOOTERS. References are the sources that were used to create the article. By putting them in the References section, you compelled someone else to sort through them all to check what text in the article could be linked to them. EddieHugh (talk) 15:21, 23 May 2020 (UTC)
