Crossing pathes with freeman.

[edit]

i only remembr then crosing paths at the teleportor to xen. when else did they croos paths? can someone conferm? (Chardrc 21:39, 15 August 2005 (UTC))[reply]

Yup. I went ahead and clarified this in the article. Nufy8 21:43, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

hay can we get a screen shot of sheperd?Chardrc 03:18, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How about putting the cover image of Opposing Force?

I put up a screenshot of Shephard, feel free to edit it or add a new image. I just thought a screenshot would be better because the cover image is already on the Opposing Force page. GENick403 08:37, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, are you sure that's Shepherd? Or did you just got a screenshot of one of the grunts from the original? Because I'd never saw an image of him in-game...

If you use "thirdperson" in Opposing Force, you'll see that Shephard looks the same as the screenshot that's there. Nufy8 13:48, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, that is the multiplayer preview picture of the shephard model. Personally, I think the picture of him on the cover art for Opposing Force would be more appropriate, but maybe that's because I made my own high-quality scan of it. :P MarphyBlack 02:55, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Identity?

[edit]

"His identity is never revealed, as he dons a full-facial gas mask throughout the game."

What the heck? We know he's name and his background, so we know his "identity". We never actually see his face, but that just adds to the "enter-the-character" philosophy the HL games have. I'm removing this sentence, but if you put it back, at least explain it.

I think that's just bad wording. What it meant to say is that since we don't know what Shephard looks like, he could be anyone. He could have been a resistance civvy in HL2 and, since we don't see his face, we wouldn't know. Basically suggesting possibilities. AK-17 13:05, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Impossible.G man detainted Adrian , and put Shepard and Gordon in stasis to protect them from the seven hour war!Besides all the citizens/resistance fighters talk,Shepard doesn't talk just like Gordon.G man knows that Gordon Freeman and Adrian Shepard are important assets and sends them out of stasis when things are going awry.Like Newell said,Shepard will return.-Agent G-man
Well, it doesn't say anywhere in the game(s) that Freeman/Shephard can't talk. They just don't in these games. I'm sure they can talk if they want to. --Erfa 18:35, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No They're quiet protagonists,Valve made them like this, except Barney Calhoun,He never talked in Blue shift, but became a primary character in Half life 2.-Agent G-man

Paradox? ==

cant follow freeman through,

SIC : Doing so will produce the message: "Evaluation terminated: Subject attempted to create a temporal paradox."

Can someone explain what the paradox would be? Jackpot Den 22:44, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good question. I know that a temporal paradox is an impossibility created by time travel, but I'm not completely sure how time travel applies to this. It might refer to the fact that if Shephard follows Freeman into Xen in Opposing Force, it would conflict with the original Half-Life in that the player already went into Xen with Freeman and Shephard was not there (assuming Half-Life was played before Opposing Force). Just a guess, though. Nufy8 23:03, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Look closely, it merely stated he attempted to create one, thus the producers didnt wanna give you any chance to even attempt creating a paradox. Darth Kevinmhk 13:33, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
just think of it this way.. if you kill Gordon in opposing force there wouldn't be hl2.02:28, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Diary in OpFor manual

[edit]
  • Is Adrian's "diary" in OpFor's manual canon? If so maybe we can add stuff into the article, like the exact dates he received specil training, seeing G-Man, and hearing rumors about Black Mesa --- which proved that the gov / military / G-man knew the crisis would unfold far before it happens. Darth Kevinmhk 13:35, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I see no reason why it shouldn't be considered canon. I just read it myself very recently and I think there's a few interesting bits to mention. However, I'd say much of the information in Adrian's journal has a lot to do with the HECU as well (i.e. The soldiers were training and preparing (unknowingly) for a specific event that might occur at Black Mesa that apparently their superiors knew about, even the date at which the disaster might occur). Also, Adrian's journal is the only time the G-Man is referred to as a G-Man within the story (Not including from the credits sequence in HL2 and Ep1). MarphyBlack 18:18, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the fact is it should be counted due to the fact all half life game shave something to do each other the point anywhy i am trying to get to say is that nhe should be counted because he never interferred with orginial but gives information to the orginial and also he see' gordon and no pardox.

Diary? If anyone can get there hands on the diary, can you please add it to the article.
That's violating copyright if we straight out copy it. Veritas Panther 09:53, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I just meant all the dates and anything else interesting.
I still have my OpFor manual (which I believe contained it), so if someone can help me out with the formatting and citing, I will gladly supply the raw data. Gundato
Yeah, it does.... I have mine about too if needed Reedy Boy 19:54, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Return

[edit]

Does anyone know if they plan to return him to the game at a later time, or if anything is scheduled? 2stepMW 15:03, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hah! I was wrong, nevermind. Erm, also Wikipedia is not a forum blah blah blah 206.180.38.20 20:44, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Portal

[edit]

The mention of his name being highlighted on the keyboards in Portal is probably innacurate:

Letters actually highlighted: adehinprs
Letters in "SHEPHARD" adehprs
Letters in "HARD PENIS": adehinprs

You be the judge.

"Adrian Shepard" - uses only the letters "adrinshep," or "adehinprs" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.16.133.87 (talk) 05:02, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They say that Shepard isn't going to be in Portal 2 and that the ASHPD is a mere coincidence, but why would they put his initials on keyboards? That's what I want to to know.

Shephard or Shepard?

[edit]

what's the correct spelling? // Gargaj (talk) 23:28, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I couldn't find my Opposing Force manual but the opening sequence clearly states "Shephard". I'll make the changes in the article. I'm curious about the spelling of the "Shepard" from Quake 4 though (since someone claims that it's a reference to Adrian Shephard). --F4LL0UT (talk) 13:24, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Quake 4 reference is a bit silly. It states that he's a corporal not a private. So it would seem unlikely that the Quake 4 developers were referencing him as they would've made the in-game character a corporal.

Unless there's source or confirmation I think it's a bit silly putting this in as a reference. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.70.241.234 (talk) 00:20, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removed false information about HECU in half life not having access to the PVC.

[edit]

I removed some information under the PVC article that stated the Soldiers in Half-Life did not have access to the PVC. It is pretty clear they did, as they are all seen wearing it. Not only that, but if they didn't have the PVC on them, then how is it possible that they can withstand 30+ rounds to the chest from an MP5/M4? Or survive a direct blast from a shotgun that would instantly kill any other human sized target? Mr. Someguy (talk) 20:59, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
