Spammer warning
[edit]Not sure if the page is even legit. The entire thing might be a fabrication by a spammer to help pump his 419 scam. Whether or not it is legit, there should be a mechanism to prevent this sort of abuse of Wikipedia's reputation. I suggest some kind of button or command to "Add spam warning to this article". It should quickly insert a temporary (but prominent) warning at the front of the article that is being linked to by the spammer. Since the life of such scams is short, the warning could probably expire after a few days, but the basic thing is to negate the spam by saying "This article is being cited in a spammer campaign. Click here for more information about such scams and how to detect and avoid them." Shanen (talk) 01:37, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- If you were victimized by the spammer who is using this webpage to claim Wikipedia's reputation for support of the scam, then I hope you include Wikipedia in any resulting lawsuit. The spammer certainly deserves it, and from my email exchanges with the mindless or unimaginative morons running Wikipedia, I conclude that Wikipedia deserves it, too. Then again, I also think you were an idiot to be scammed, but if the 419 wasn't working, then the spammers would have stopped pitching it, right? Just too bad that Wikipedia chooses to support the latest versions. (I do support various charities, but I think Wikipedia is unlikely to be one of them, insofar as I will NOT support scammers or their infrastructure.) 117.55.65.140 (talk) 01:43, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
