On notability

Re: Robert McClenon's question as to whether A. Oluo meets WP:MUSICBIO, as far as I can tell, he probably doesn't, though I'm somewhat in the dark about the world of musicial awards and accolades. But even if he doesn't, I'm curious as to why the assertions in the first paragraph in this City Arts profile, or the profile itself, aren't sufficient to to meet WP:GNG or WP:ANYBIO? It seems like this alone would meet that standard. And if you were skeptical, then you could add in all the other coverage of him to address any doubts. No? The AfD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ahamefule J. Oluo didn't attract a lot of participants at the time, so I don't think these questions were sufficiently explored. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 03:56, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This had previously been deleted for lack of notability; I think my recent edits should solidly establish notability.

The man created a major work for theater that among other things played at the Public Theater in New York, one of the most important theaters in the U.S., and was favorably reviewed in the New York Times; was the first artist in residence at one of Seattle's most prestigious cultural institutions (Town Hall Seattle); was the subject of an interview on the blog of the National Endowment for the Arts; has appeared on This American Life; and is co-founder of a group that won a Stranger Genius award, probably one of the two or three highest honors in the arts in the Pacific Northwest. All of this can be verified from the sources (the NEA and This American Life content are here as external links rather than formally as citations; the fact of their existence didn't seem to me to be key points of his biography, but testifies to his notability). Why should he have to meet the criteria for specifically musical notability? That said, he probably qualifies on the basis of the half a dozen cited clearly notable musicians in whose groups he has played.
