Feedback from New Page Review process
[edit]I left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: This is a very detailed article. Thank you for taking the time to write it!.

This article needs to be deleted, Al Cannon paid someone to make it JTW1998+ (talk) 19:07, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- @JTW1998+: I don't think paid editing in itself is a reason for article deletion. Username6892 19:13, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
DannyS712 since you were the last person to make major changes to the article, is it appropriate for you to congratulating yourself while not disclosing that you were paid to do so? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.208.200.181 (talk) 20:07, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

- ... that sheriff Al Cannon has a jail named after him? Source: https://www.postandcourier.com/news/no-slowing-down-for-sheriff-al-cannon/article_1e771b4e-fb55-50c7-961b-d681bfe73242.html

- Comment: Just accepted this AfC submission - very well written
Created by Knapp84 (talk). Nominated by DannyS712 (talk) at 02:35, 30 June 2020 (UTC).
- It should be noted that there are undeclared PAIDCOI concerns on this. The DYK submitter (the AfC reviewer) made major edits, so it wouldn't be subject for deletion, but here as an FYI. Nosebagbear (talk) 19:33, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
A PR puff piece that requires significant cleanup and is in no way suitable for the main page given the UDPE. Also, as a general DYK comment, that is a pretty boring hook. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 19:51, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- I suspected that there was some coi, which is why I spent so long reviewing it and ensuring that the sources confirmed all of the content --DannyS712 (talk) 21:34, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- Note: the image was deleted from commons and removed from the template; removing the template, and the "(pictured)" from the hook. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:40, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
- Given the remaining concerns, I'd like to withdraw the DYK nomination --DannyS712 (talk) 05:19, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

Note on SC Wikiproject High Importance Rating
[edit]I rated this article high on the SC wikiproject. Normally I wouldn't for a sheriff. But, this article has some issues that need addressing. Muttnick (talk) 17:59, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
Link to Bill Nettles is the wrong guy
[edit]Maybe there's another Bill Nettles who ran for sheriff against Cannon in 1996, but it certainly isn't the one linked in this article. 2601:740:8480:8C30:8C49:259C:2781:D945 (talk) 00:58, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
