Flow of influence between Husserl and Koyre
[edit]It is unclear to what extent Koyre influenced Husserl in his understanding of Galileo and the mathematization of nature. Husserl had worked on this topic well before the conversation (the contents of which no one knows) between Koyre and Husserl leading up to the publication of The Crisis of the European Sciences. This line in the article is, therefore, a bit misleading. At the very least, there ought to be a citation in support of this view. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.100.254.156 (talk) 21:06, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
In the article on Alexandre Koyre, thjois paragraph does not make sense:
From 1922 Koyré taught in Paris at the École pratique des hautes études (EPHE), and became a colleague of Alexandre Kojève, who eventually replaced him as lecturer on Hegel. In 1932 the EPHE created a Department of History of Religious Thought in Modern Europe for him to chair. He retained this position until his death.
Pronunciation
[edit]In my experience, the name is nearly always pronounced koy-ray, not kwa-ray -- at least by professionals in Koyre's field of history of science (which I have been for five decades). The vowel in the first syllable thus approximates the Russian pronunciation, rather than reflecting French orthography. Someone who knows how to express this in the phonetic symbols may want to correct the given pronunciation, which is currently written kwa-ray.Ajrocke (talk) 20:33, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
