Merge proposal[edit]

I support the proposal to merge this article with Ancient Egypt in the Western imagination because most of this article's contents are duplicated from Egyptomania. The remaining content would make a decent sized section. Killian441 (talk) 18:10, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, most of this article's contents are the same as Ancient Egypt in the Western imagination's. They sould be merged. But there is also Egyptomania: this is in fact the Ancient Egypt in the Western imagination: the american chapter. One could also embed Egyptomania in Ancient Egypt in the Western imagination. Even if not, at least after merging American Egyptomania with Ancient Egypt in the Western imagination, American Egyptomania should redirect to Egyptomania. respectfully oppose a merge (especially a multiple-merge as suggested by the above commentor). there's too much diverse material here to lump it all-in-one & do a proper job of providing the information.

Ancient Egypt in the Western imagination is clearly the "most senior" article for this subject , but there is plently of scope for separate sub-articles about "egyptomania" as a specific phase(s), & "american egyptomania" as a sub-topic of that. each of these subjects has HUGE potential for expansion, which would be lost & buried in a lumped-together mega-article.

Our US culture[edit]

"To this day, we see a lot of impact that the Egyptian culture, architecture, art, and literature has had on our US culture." What if the reader has no US culture? --Legolas558 (talk) 05:41, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Article merged[edit]

Killian441, Garsd, and Lx 121: This article has been merged into Ancient Egypt in the Western imagination. I am not sure how it relates to Egyptomania so I will start another discussion regarding that article. As for the creation of a separate American Egyptomania article, we should hold off until there is enough source material to sustain a separate article. (I did not merge much of the content, since it was not in encyclopedic style and lacked citations.) Harej (talk) 05:37, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

support -- more should be said of the post-discovery-of-king-tut's-tomb "egyptomania" Lx 121 (talk) 08:33, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

& a LOT more should be said about the impact of the napoleonic-french expedition to egypt, in both articles. Lx 121 (talk) 08:38, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Support - I agree with the merge, and I also think there is a lot a room for expansion. -Killian441 (talk) 21:00, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
