Suggested move
[edit]During the course of a discussion on Articles for deletion, several proposals were made for an alternative name for this article. They are:
- The Pilot Episode (Are You Being Served?)
- Pilot episode (Are You Being Served?)
- Are You Being Served? pilot episode
- Are You Being Served? (pilot episode)
- What is the original title of the pilot??
Please discuss and arrive at a consensus for the new title. This discussion and the proposals have been listed on Wikipedia:Requested moves --Tony SidawayTalk 12:20, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- I would vote against any name that began "Pilot Episode" on the grounds that that could be used for the pilot episodes of literally thousands of teleplays. The best choice would be to simply name this article the title of the original pilot, as is done e.g. for Star Trek episodes. If the pilot was untitled, I think the title should be Are You Being Served... where ...refers to the fact that this is a synopsis and discussion of the pilot. Quill 23:58, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I follow, are you suggesting it be moved to Are You Being Served...? Flowerparty 05:15, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
- No, I think it should be called by the episode name, e.g. The Think Tank or Up Captain Peacock (first ones that came to mind). If the pilot was untitled, then call it Pilot Episode or (pilot) or (Pilot Episode) or...whatever....
- Are you following me now? Yeah? Well, stop following me or I'll call a cop ;) Quill 09:24, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
- I've looked at numerous sites, including the BBC, and it appears that the title was either "Pilot" or "Are You Being Served?" or, perhaps most likely, was untitled, so I'd lean towards Are You Being Served? (pilot episode), or simpler, just Are You Being Served? (pilot). Niteowlneils 12:32, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
- For least confusion, it should be Are You Being Served? pilot episode. --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 08:42, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
- I would go for Pilot episode (Are You Being Served?) Tim! (talk) 18:09, 6 September 2005 (UTC) (moved my comment from moves page) Are there any other episodes with articles for consistency? Tim! (talk) 16:44, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
- There's Dear Sexy Knickers and Camping In, but as they did not require disambig, do not help. I don't object to any of the other suggestions, so go whichever one seems best. Tim! (talk) 16:51, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
- Okay, so far, consensus is that the title goes first, followed by "pilot episode", with or without brackets. I think that because of the question mark, it looks wierd without (). So I'm getting ready to BE BOLD and move this, if there are no objections. Speak now or....etc. etc. Quill 22:30, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
