No original research
[edit]The material written by earlier editors now incorporated in a section entitled "Plot synopsis" needs to be documented throughout with reliable third-party published sources that are verifiable. See WP:CITE and WP:V and related links; WP:NOR. See Wikipedia articles on other plays by Pinter and on plays by other playwrights for format (infobox template format) and appropriate sections for body. Some may serve as useful models for this article. If there is "critical analysis" in the "Plot synopsis", it needs to be removed and moved to a new section with an appropriate title ("Critical analysis") and documented with published reliable sources. Editors need to provide sources for statements in the body of the article consistent with WP:V#Sources and to present external links in compliance with the guidelines in WP:EL. See the talkheader (above) for related editing policy links if not familiar with them. Thanks. --NYScholar (talk) 21:54, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- I am not sure that the plot synopsis needs citations. WP:WikiProject_Films/Style_guidelines#Plot suggests not. WP:WikiProject_Theatre/Article_Structure#Synopsis does not make any suggestion. Jezhotwells (talk) 00:19, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Direct quotations from a text of the play need full citations identifying page references for the quotations so one can know what pages of the text of the play are being used for the quotations. This synopsis still has quotations and no attribution for them (page references to a text). It should also not have original critical interpretations in it; just summarize. If the summary comes from a pre-existing plot synopsis, that also needs attribution. --NYScholar (talk) 00:31, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
I added page references throughout and made necessary corrections to the synopsis to remove undocumented statements, and I added the annotation to the "Works cited" to indicate which text of Ashes to Ashes is being cited throughout this article. --NYScholar (talk) 04:41, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
The Theatre Portal tag
[edit]The tag should be on all theatre related articles. Please see WP:WikiProject_Theatre#To-do list Jezhotwells (talk) 00:38, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Please visit the theatre portal and click on its featured articles; they do not have a theatre portal template on them; they are parts of categories and as such already accessible via theatre portal. Placement of theatre portal (where it goes on the page) is not entirely clear. You've been breaking on the page by inserting it between EL section and the proper placement of the "Pinter" template. I'll look into this further when I have more time. In the meantime, please look at other articles via the portal itself for the format. Thanks. --NYScholar (talk) 00:44, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
- (cont.) [updated] Just looked again; the "to do" list (which is created by editors and not policy or guidelines) says to put it in the "See also" section (where it doesn't interfere with ELs and the Pinter template (as here). Please look again. Thanks. --NYScholar (talk) 00:45, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
- (cont.) "Add {{Portal|Theatre|P culture.svg}} to the See also section of Theatre-related articles." (from the to do list). I don't know where the "should" comes from; it seems to be an editing preference of those working on that project (already tagged on this talk page). I've seen the tags on many theatre-related article talk pages. If one wants to add the "theatre portal" template to all these articles, according to its "to do" list, the preference is in the "See also" section. --NYScholar (talk) 00:56, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
