I am dissapointed that my info. regarding the high cancer rate in Avon Lake has been removed due to lack of sources. Just do a google search for 5 million stories. I know children with rare forms of cancer in Avon Lake because of the fact that much of the city is in proximity to some very toxic factories that pump out horrible pollution. Instead, someone wants to hype up some "theatre district" in the city which is basically a made up folly. But that of course, doesn't get removed because there are tonnnnnssss o'sources stating that Avon Lake has a "theatre district". Overall, this is very dissapointing and unprofessional of Wikipedia and the user who made this piece up.

I agree that Avon Lake has a severe problem in bizarre cancers, and that might be mentionable if you find a good article supporting it. And what theatre district? Haha I didn't know there was one. RAmen, Demosthenes 23:31, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is nothing to hate about this city. Who cares about if there are no taco bell or arbys. We have mcdonalds burger king wendys and mr heros. not to mention carabus coffe, fenicks frozen yogurt, and dairy queen. and other great places like miss kristins dance studio, amanda's tumbling center, and the avon lake sports thingy. to top it all off we have a a cool lake for hot days and a hot lake with no dead fish for just relaxing. Also some of the best schools in lorain school district. Avon lake is a very good city. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Avon Lake rocks! Our football team is amazing!

Some of the things listed in the following talk taken from the article might be good for 'encyclopedicising' --Alf melmac 14:06, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Avon Lake is a vey boring city, I have lived here for 14 years and wish I could live somewhere else, there are constant developments. The new voters refuse to raise taxes there for the schools suffer. The classes are huge, the school is cold and this place is BORING. And to make it worse theres no Taco Bell OR Arbys! So yah its a very annoying/ boring place.

I really agree with you. The room I'm sitting in is about 55 degrees. The princpals (3 of them to be exact) have blocked every site on the web. We have to fight just to get to this site. No image searchs or videos or jokes. Not only is this the most boring city it has the worst filter on the internet. SAF

That Kid Is right.

I agree. I graduated from Avon Lake High School 17 years ago. Avon Lake has not changed except now they have a Wendy's. My parents still live there even though I now live in California. I still go back every christmas. Avon Lake is boring. I hate Avon Lake.

There's nothing wrong with the city not changing. In fact, I prefer it that way. I don't have to deal with inordinate amounts of traffic all the time, noise is not a problem, etc.

Now that Avon is expanding, they can absorb all of the development burden, and I can drive a mere five minutes to get to all the shopping areas that used to be a half hour away.

And don't complain about the internet at school blocking your jokes and videos. While the taxpayers of the city are paying for your education, you can spend it getting educated, not being entertained. Once you're paying for your own education, you can do whatever you want (when you go to college).

If you think the high school is bad, you should have been there 5 years ago when they ripped the roof and walls off sections of the school. It was a lot colder than 55 then!

YAY!!! WE'RE GETTING A TACO BELL!!!!!!!!!!

Have you seen the intersection of Walker/83 lately? The traffic is appalling. Not to mention that whole Electric/83 light fiasco that went on a few weeks back. Our town is turning into disgusting suburban sprawl. And yet there still isn't shit to do. How the hell is that possible?

Local tourist attractions

[edit]

These could be elaborated upon a bit, since, even as a resident, I've never heard of the "Rambo lives trailer", and the "The 45's/Westwinds Trail" doesn't really mean much to me. I would hope the parks and pier would rank up there with an unknown trailer in terms of attractions. Talz13 17:46, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've never heard of a "Rambo Lives Trailer" either :) But I've been on the 45's /Westwinds Trail. The 45's started out as a small neighborhood of smaller vacation homes for wealthy families that lived elsewhere, although now people live in that neighborhood as year-round residents. The trail that connects the Westwinds (developed beginning in the 80's continuing through today) to the 45's is paved, contains Resatar Park, and is entirely wooded the whole way. I can't say I'd travel to Avon Lake to take it, but if you live in Avon Lake or nearby it's a great place for an afternoon walk or brisk bike ride.

I can think of a few other tourist attractions. -How about mentioning all of the parks in Avon Lake? The newer Walker Road park even has a man-made "lake"- very beautfiul- a nice spot for a picnic. -The Beach!!! Lots of magazines talk about wearing this to the beach, carrying that bag to the beach-- but most people don't actually live near one. Avon Lake's is great! -It's been rumored that a Disc Golf course may be constructed at one of the parks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.160.164.184 (talk) 02:18, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sports/ Accomplishments

[edit]

Perhaps this page could be enhanced by a section overview of Avon Lake's successful cheerleading squad and football team. (both state champs) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.160.164.184 (talk) 02:11, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Population Problem

[edit]

As the population in Avon Lake has escalated since the Westwinds was built, Elementary Schools have had trouble accounting for all the children in attendance. Should this matter be discussed on the Avon Lake page (and it's possible solutions- such as constructing a new elementary school?) 72.160.164.184 (talk) 02:21, 3 February 2008 (UTC)resident[reply]
