Accurate?

[edit]

Why does this entry not comport with Michael Miller's statement, which is found as an external link at the bottom of the page? Miller's story is totally different, and he includes the name and address of another soldier who he claims substantiates his first-hand account. Nicmart (talk) 02:01, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. Have edited the page to reflect this, and added a source for the skeptical view.BobFromBrockley (talk) 13:31, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

skewed article

[edit]

This article gives a lot of space to one quotation. The section on the Vietnam war ought to actually say what happened in the town during the Tet Offensive, as this is quite notable. There must also be other things about the town that ought to go into an encyclopedia article. Am adding a link at the end of the article to the local government's website history section; this and other sources must provide more information that would benefit the article.BobFromBrockley (talk) 13:32, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think the whole discussion regarding this quote is wrong. I believe the quote comes from an enlisted Marine who was interviewed by American newscasters very early on in the war in 1965, and the quote does not refer to Ben Tre at all. I remember seeing the newscast. Peter Arnette may have picked up on this quote later to support his unfavorable view of the war, but he was not responsible for reporting it originally.Daniel Sparkman (talk) 17:59, 16 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Beginning ce work on article as part of GOCE

Deleted this: Its classification changed from town to city on 11 August 2009. Tried to find verifiable source with no luck. Sprinkler21 (talk) 02:55, 1 August 2012 (UTC)Sprinkler21[reply]

Vietnam War

[edit]

I removed some irrelevant discussion about some quote that's barely relevant to the topic that's taking up more than half the content of the article. This irrelevant emphasis is a systemic bias that we should avoid. DHN (talk) 01:54, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
