> They seem massive enough for appaling roads, but their mechanical conditions are poor so they aren't reliable at all [citation needed]

Explanation: the BKV bought all available Van Hool buses as used, without refurbishment, arguing they can set aside a small part of the fleet for "cannibalization", to use their parts towards keeping the majority of the fleet rolling. They didn't even repaint the buses to dark blue, just plastered self-sticking ads all over the original light yellow and silverish paint...

Of course life is not that simple, the parts breaking down are usually the ones, which already have been cannibalised for other buses, so there is no inventory for conducting preventive maintenance and buses often break down in the traffic. 82.131.210.163 (talk) 18:44, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IMHO this article really needs a revamp. It contains a lot of details that are extremely hard to keep up to date, contains a lot of original research/personal opinion, and unbalanced between topics (ie. almost no history, and a large section about the short corruption scandal episode). As of 2013 there were more than 50 edits but the article didn't even mention that the public transport management of Budapest, with many of the functions of the BKV, went to BKK in 2010. I changed the 1st two sections only. Comandanteej (talk) 03:05, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
