From a quick look in the dictionary it seems like it might mean "eight distinguished ridges". Can anyone confirm? (and add to the article) ☸ Moilleadóir☎ 06:42, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
A guide there gave a rendition that makes sense: "eight reaches" has the sense of "on all sides" so it means surrounded by mountain ridges or secure on all sides. Colin McLarty (talk) 21:40, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
