Move suggestion to Kamaitachi no Yoru
I am not 100% certain yet myself, but it seems to me like Kamaitachi no Yoru is a slightly more common name for this video game. I was reading the most recent issue of the Dutch Aniway magazine, and it refers to the game using its Japanese name consistently, only mentioning its English-language iOS version at the end of the paragraph. This got me curious to see how other publications treat this game, and so I Google Newsed "Banshee's Last Cry". Results are a bit mixed:
- Some publications use Banshee's Last Cry as the primary title, and only put the Japanese title in brackets or mention it a bit later: [1] [2] [3]
- A few, indeed, do not mention the Japanese title at all: [4] [5]
- Crunchyroll is very vague on what the primary title is: [6] [7]
- Google Newsing "Kamaitachi no Yoru" actually gives me 150 more results than Google Newsing "Banshee's Last Cry", interestingly enough.
- And of course most importantly to my argument, some sources use "Kamaitachi no Yory" as the primary title, and "Banshee's Last Cry" as either the secondary title or as a specific version of the game: [8] [9] [10]
- Of course, publications that predate the iOS release would only use the Japanese name or an English translation thereof, such as: [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] [16]
- The Untold History of Japanese Game Developers, though published after the release of the iOS version, consistently seems to use the Japanese title.
I'd love to hear more opinions on the topic. It seems to me that "Kamaitachi no Yoru" is the primary title for this subject, and "Banshee's Last Cry" is only a specific iOS port/translation of it, but the sources are hardly decisive and there is some room for interpretation, it seems. Do you support or oppose this move suggestion? ~Maplestrip/Mable (chat) 15:23, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
- I would support a move because the topic of the article is the history of Kamaitachi no Yoru. "Banshee's Last Cry" is a name that only came up with the iOS port many years later. Treat like Mother (video game). Someone suggested a move there to Earthbound Beginning, and the arguments on the talk page to retain the Japanese name apply here. Also, this game spawned a series of games which all retain the Kamaitachi no Yoru name. TarkusABtalk 15:46, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

- Although I was the one who made the move in the first place, I think I agree. I would suggest looking into if sources use Night of the Sickle Weasel too, though - that's what I knew the game as prior to the iOS localization.--Alexandra IDVtalk 16:20, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
- Seven Google News results, four of which are Crunchyroll News and two are Siliconera. It has way less Google Books results too. I think it's unlikely for it to be the common name. Glad to see my move suggestion is being so positively received! ~Maplestrip/Mable (chat) 12:05, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
This article makes no sense in English
It's obviously translated but the translation has no value because the sentences are meaningless. 221.151.121.206 (talk) 14:05, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- You're right, a lot of the text was nigh unreadable. I rewrote it using my interpretation of the meaning, but sections like Development are still completely unsourced, so there might be a bunch of misinformation here... ~Maplestrip/Mable (chat) 06:43, 3 May 2023 (UTC)

Kamaitachi no Yoru → Banshee's Last Cry – WP:USEENGLISH policy is clear that English names should be used when possible. After the English name was announced, sources started using the English name or at the very least appending it, making it clear that it is the common name in English for the game. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 19:49, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
