Origin of name[edit]

Do we know the origin of the "Bigod" name? Also, wasn't it unusual at that time for a surname to be passed from one family member to another - the pattern being usually xxxx fitz yyyyy ? Any explanation? Ghmyrtle (talk) 12:13, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
