Merger proposal

[edit]

I propose that Black shame be merged into Black Horror on the Rhine. Leutha (talk) 16:36, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I would second that. This topic was known was in Germany as die Schwarze Schmach, and this article is just a translation of the German term. But in English, the term that generally used was "the Black Horror on the Rhine", not the "Black Shame". The battle that is known in English as the Battle of Waterloo is known in French as the Battle of Mont St. Jean. The French name for the battle is actually the better one since Mont St. Jean is where the battle actually took place, not at the village of Waterloo, which was two miles down the road. But name Battle of Waterloo is the one that caught on in the English-speaking world, which is why we have an article on the Battle of Waterloo, not the Battle of Mont St. Jean. Since this story attracted much attention in the English-speaking world at the time, and it was usually referred as the "Black Horror on the Rhine", not the "Black Shame", this article should be folded into Black Horror article. --A.S.
