DYK

[edit]

@Kingsif: Hi! Do you think a DYK nomination could be started about this article? --Jamez42 (talk) 12:56, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe, unless the article is improved within 5 days. It's an interesting article as well. I created this article based on eswiki and several other sources. I'm ready for DYK nomination if I can improve the article. --cyrfaw (talk) 17:09, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I was the main contributor to the article in the eswiki, so I have to thank you for translating it :) Let me know if any help's needed! --Jamez42 (talk) 17:16, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We can go ahead with the DYK but we have to improve it within 5 days, before 1 May. --cyrfaw (talk) 17:22, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Which improvements are needed? I think the article is long enough currently. --Jamez42 (talk) 17:29, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe we can proceed with it, the article meets the requirements but we have to think for a better DYK about him. --cyrfaw (talk) 17:44, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Example 1: Did you know?....... that the Colonel of the Bolivarian National Guard Bladimir Lugo was awarded by President Nicolas Maduro on June 29, 2017, two days after attacking opposition deputies of the National Assembly? It's my example. --cyrfaw (talk) 17:48, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Example 2: Did you know?....... that the Colonel of the Bolivarian National Guard Bladimir Lugo was awarded by President Nicolas Maduro on June 29, 2017, a day after assaulting the National Assembly president and opposition politician Julio Borges? --cyrfaw (talk) 17:52, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you have better DYK for this, you can improve these as well. --cyrfaw (talk) 17:52, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent! One of the reasons I pinged Kingsif is because I can't think of a hook, I like the ones proposed above. I thought about his alleged involvement in the Faddoul kidnapping. but I'm not sure if it would make the best one. I think there could be one about his sanctions or one summarizing his attacks. In Venezuela he's known by the deputies, journalists and other people for his abuses. --Jamez42 (talk) 18:20, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, discuss with @Kingsif: and lets propose the DYK nomination. --cyrfaw (talk) 20:52, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I like those hooks :) perhaps some clarification (i.e. "awarded" -> "promoted") but otherwise fine and good enough for DYK Kingsif (talk) 17:36, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Kingsif: @Jamez42: Thanks, Should I prepare the DYK nomination ASAP? If yes, I will let you know when I did the DYK nomination. --cyrfaw (talk) 07:57, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It should be nominated at DYK less than a week after creation/improvement. Kingsif (talk) 16:24, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Kingsif: @Jamez42: Nominated at Template:Did you know nominations/Bladimir Lugo, you are welcome to comment or improve the DYK. Invite other Wikipedians who contribute about Venezuela as well. Thanks. --cyrfaw (talk) 07:46, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Bladimir Lugo

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Bladimir Lugo's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 08:20, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Consistent date format

[edit]

The article should use a consistent date format. See MOS:DATEUNIFY. I would fix it myself, but I don't know if one format or the other is preferred for articles related to Venezuela. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 06:20, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Done Fixed the date format already --cyrfaw (talk) 10:33, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Copy edit

[edit]

I've copy edited the article. However, due to my limited knowledge of Spanish, I could not check the citations for information. Thus, I decided not to change certain sentences out of a fear of changing the meaning. As such, these sentences may still be wordy, inconsistent, or otherwise problematic.

If anyone is a native Spanish speaker (or an expert of Venezuela in general), please consider improving the article further. Thanks. —Bobbychan193 (talk) 21:45, 13 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bobbychan193: I guess that would be me. I copy edited the paragraph about the declaration of Luga as persona non-grata. Please let me know if there are other specific parts where help might be needed. Also, thank you for your help!. --Jamez42 (talk) 23:05, 13 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jamez42: Thanks for your work. The sentence is now less confusing, but it is still rather long. I am copy-pasting it here for convenience:
Tinedo Guía, the president of the National Association of Journalists (CNP), rejected the continuous aggressions against him from journalists, cameramen, and photographers who covered the Federal Legislative Palace on a daily basis carried out by National Guardsmen commanded by Lugo, reason why he declared him persona non grata and urged the rest of the CNP sections of the country to comply with this statement and called on the competent institutions to investigate and reject incorrect facts.
I have a few questions and suggestions for improvement. First, what is Tinedo Guía's relationship with Lugo? Is he a supporter, the opposition, or a third party? Can we simplify the phrase "journalists, cameramen, and photographers who covered the Federal Legislative Palace on a daily basis"? (If the context is important, consider moving contextual information to a new sentence before this one.) For the phrase "carried out by National Guardsmen commanded by Lugo", what is being carried out? What does carry out mean here? Did they physically carry the reporters out (i.e. pushed them out)? Or did they carry out some task or mission? Can we change "reason why" to because, or start a new sentence? The phrase "he declared him" is problematic; who is declaring whom here? Can we delete "of the country"? Is "this statement" referring to Guía's rejection? Who is the person who "called on the competent institutions"? What does "competent" in "competent institutions" mean? Can we change the adjective to be more objective and descriptive? Can we change "reject incorrect facts" to something else?
Let me know what you think. Thanks. —Bobbychan193 (talk) 23:56, 13 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Jamez42: @Kingsif: @MaoGo:

Per Template:Did you know nominations/Bladimir Lugo, the article needs to be improved before considering for DYK. The reviewer said that there is some issues on the article, including the article isn't neutral or balanced. For example, Lugo's court actions or charges in 2005 and 2017. If such actions are mentioned, the article should also provide information about what happened in the court cases. Regarding for one allegation, that Lugo was involved in kidnapping the banker's daughter, it seems that the only source is Twitter (it was reported in a newspaper, but their only source was a tweet by the banker) - and Twitter is not considered a reliable source. So if that allegation is mentioned, a reliable source is needed to verify it. Everyone is welcome to improve the article, as I'm creating an article on the Faddoul brothers - which is linked to Lugo's controversy. Thanks --cyrfaw (talk) 08:11, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
