Request edit

[edit]

This is an edit request for my client Blockstack who would like to update their company page.

Collapsing lengthy request by sock
The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

• At the end of the lead paragraph please add the sentence, "Blockstack designed a new consensus mechanism, Proof of Transfer, that benefits from the security of Bitcoin."[1]

• They would like to create an Overview section after the lead paragraph and insert the first paragraph of Overview: Blockstack is a public benefit corp with the mission to enable an open, decentralized internet, which will benefit all internet users by giving them more control over their information and computation.[2]

• Make the sentence 'Concerns around internet privacy, security, and data breaches brought attention to Blockstack.[3] Software developers have used Blockstack to build decentralized alternatives to popular services.[4][5][6]' the second paragraph in the Overview section.

• Create a History section after the Overview section. Make 'Blockstack was founded in 2013 by Muneeb Ali and Ryan Shea.[7]' the first sentence in the History section.

• Follow that sentence with 'Since 2013, Blockstack has working on an open-source peer-to-peer network using blockchain technologies to build a network and tools for building decentralized applications.[2]'

• The next sentence should be the sentence that currently is last on the page, 'The company is headquartered in New York.' Please correct this sentence to read 'The company is headquartered in New York City, New York.' because it is more specific than just saying New York.

• Please make the sentence 'From 2014 to 2019 Blockstack PBC, a company working on the Blockstack technology, raised around $75 million through a mix of venture capital and token sales.[8]' the first line of the second paragraph in History.

• After this sentence add 'Investors include the Harvard endowment[9], early Twitter investor Union Square Ventures and Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss[10], and Naval Ravikant.[11]'

• Make this the third paragraph in History. 'Blockstack co-founders Muneeb Ali and Ryan Shea served as advisers to season 5 of HBO comedy, Silicon Valley.[12]'

• Make a new section called Technology. Add the paragraph 'Blockstack provides developer tools to build decentralized applications with decentralized storage and user IDs out of the box without needing servers or databases.[11] Blockstack opened their testnet for their Stacks 2.0 blockchain with new bitcoin-linked consensus mechanism and Clarity smart contract language in spring of 2020.[13]'

Blockstack.org discontinued

[edit]

Apparently the decentralized apps (dapps) that were offered via Blockstack website blocksite.org can't be used anymore since end 2020/beginning 2021 as the website has been discontinued and redirects now to stacks.co and there are no dapps anymore. This Wikipedia entry could be deleted, I think. 85.221.150.236 (talk) 00:25, 28 March 2021 (UTC)DD85.221.150.236 (talk) 00:25, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. Request made by a CU-confirmed sockpuppet, so I'm not going to indulge; also partly promotional, for what it's worth. Blablubbs|talk 00:26, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request 2 / deletion

[edit]

I've been following Blockstack since some years now. Not for their cryptocurrency, but for their development platform for dapps. Their website address has changed and so has their name. Their name is now Stacks. There are several URL's related to Blockstack, but the former blockstack.org redirects to stacks.co. From there it is quite difficult to find dapps or any other relevant information. Many dapps built on Blockstack don't work anymore and the whole project doesn't come off the ground. This is the reason, why I would agree to delete this entry. However, there are several reasons why I'd like to keep the entry (provided that it is being edited by an independent person) for now:

Thus it might be too eraly for deletion. But changing the entry Blockstack to Stacks would be a good idea IMHO. DD 01 May 2021, Poland
