2nd line of the chorus

[edit]

Contrary to what a previous version of the article stated, the only official version of the second verse of the chorus is "em nosso peito juvenil" ("in our youthful chest"). The praxis, in vogue in some quarters of replacing the word "juvenil" (youthful) with "varonil" (manly) is not correct and was never made official. Thus, in official ceremonies such as the civic celebrations on Flag Day (19 November) and in other military and State ceremonies, the people and military bands will sing the verse as it exists officially, with the 2nd line of the chorus rendered as "em nosso peito juvenil" ("in our youthful chest"). For the official text of the Flag Anthem, see the website of the Presidency of the Federative Republic of Brazil at the following link: http://www2.planalto.gov.br/presidencia/simbolos-nacionais/hinos/hino-a-bandeira-nacional-letra-pdf-17.5-kb Accordingly, it is not correct that only people under the age of 21 years are supposed to sing "youthful chest", while adults would be supposed to sing "manly chest"; instead, all people, of all ages, are supposed to sing the only official lyrics of the anthem, with the words "youthful chest". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 179.218.132.192 (talk) 03:21, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
