Mind explaining the move? This source and this source and this source and this source and this source and this source and this source and this source and this source to name a few of the 5700+ google hits say Bruce Botelho as it was before you moved the article. The other way gives you 92 google hits. Where he is currently mayor even has it as Botelho and I would hope they would get it correct. Aboutmovies (talk) 20:23, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I didnt leave a message here. I moved the article in response to an OTRS ticket raised by a local news reporter, but didnt replace all occurrences of the prior name because I wasnt 100% satisfied. Your last link is very convincing. The sources that use Bothelo are also authoritative, and more can be found using the search Bothelo+juneau. I'm at a loss to explain this; feel free to move it back if you are confident. John Vandenberg (chat) 20:39, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I just sent an email to the council itself asking which it is. The drop down menu for the mayor was Botelho though. Hopefully they don't think I'm an idiot. Aboutmovies (talk) 20:46, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
They said Botelho, so I'll move it back. You might want to email the newspaper reporter and let them know they might want to check their sources better. Though, mark one for Wikipedia being accurate! Aboutmovies (talk) 21:43, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Fantastic; thank you for investigating this. John Vandenberg (chat) 03:33, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Birthplace

[edit]

On the first section, it says he was born in Anchorage, Alaska, then in the 2nd section, it says Juneau, Alaska. Does anyone know for sure? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.145.225.36 (talk) 22:38, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know but I could ask him next time I see him, he works with my boy scout troop.Moocowsrule (talk) 05:38, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Moocowsrule[reply]
The source says Juneau, so it has been made consistent throughout the article. Aboutmovies (talk) 07:59, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Once again dredging up an old discussion. I came across various 1940s-era references to an Emmett Botelho in Juneau and kept wondering about the relationship. This time, for once, the web came to the rescue when print sources didn't. This article may come in handy for future reference if someone gets around to doing something before I do.RadioKAOS (talk) 04:17, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone else think this is semi important?

[edit]

Bruce's son Alex was in Boy Scout Troop 11 but is now an Eagle Scout, does anyone else think this is semi important? I'm also in Troop 11.Moocowsrule (talk) 05:40, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Moocowsrule[reply]

No, this really is not encyclopedic and should be removed for several reasons, including WP:BLP since it is not cited (the sentence is, but it only says he is involved in Boy Scouts), and due to WP:NOT. Aboutmovies (talk) 08:01, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One of the organizations I'm affiliated with encouraged me to edit my bio on Wikipedia. I made the changes and included an extensive list of sources (which I thought complied with the required protocols). These I completed yesterday, only to discover that they had been deleted again this morning (this was my second attempt). I need guidance on what steps I need to take206.174.68.95 (talk) 20:28, 22 July 2013 (UTC)Bruce Botelho[reply]

Hi, Bruce. Here's what I think you can do to help:
  1. Review WP:COI.
  2. Donate a photo.
  3. Step back and let someone else go through that material. That probably means me, since I don't believe too many other people have access to much of it. I mean, the Southeastern Log? That's getting entirely too old-school on most of our asses. RadioKAOS  – Talk to me, Billy 03:38, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

While I'm at it, in one of the journals published by the Alaska Conference of the United Methodist Church of their annual meetings, this particular one from the early 1970s, there was a mention of a conference attendee and aspiring clergyman named Bruce Botelho. Coincidence? I have to run along right now, so no specifics, though it won't be hard to dig up the specific cite in question.
