I'm trying to determine what more must be done for cleanup. I've added third-party references and revised the text to maintain a neutral point of view. I've no doubts as to the subject's notability. Jsotis76 (talk) 16:51, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Issues

[edit]

I removed the primary sources and advert tags after the rewrite. I still question the notability of this establishment however, and there is still the obvious conflict of interest issue. Can you provide sources for the "notable patrons"? This needs to be sourced better or removed. Thank you. Wperdue (talk) 17:01, 8 April 2009 (UTC)wperdue[reply]

Questions

[edit]

Thanks for clarifying. I'm in the process of identifying a source to confirm the notable patrons. This is a well-known hotel bar that has appeared in works of literature and film, including a Hemingway novel. Furthermore, Hotel Monteleone is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, one of only three hotels in the nation with such designation. Is there anything I could do to provide further evidence of its notability? Also, could you explain how there's an obvious conflict of interest? And if the entry consists of factual statements, how does it matter? Jsotis76 (talk) 17:12, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you could cite the fictional works in which it appeared (using inline notations if possible), that would be a good start. Also, you should be able to site the National Register of Historic Places. As far as the conflict of interest goes, the problem is that the entry was created by a username that is obviously associated with the subject and the the users who have been editing the entry have no other contributions to Wikipedia save for this subject. Unless it's just random chance that they both decided to edit this entry, it seems that they have some kind of interest or association with the Carousel Piano Bar and Lounge. I hope this was helpful. Thanks. That helps. I'm working on citing the fictional works. And I'm confident that the entry has a neutral tone, and that all statements are verifiable facts, so I'm hoping conflict of interest is not an issue. Thanks again. Jsotis76 (talk) 14:14, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A list of literary works that mention the Carousel Bar has been added, and I think it should help establish notability. Are we any closer to having the tags removed? Jsotis76 (talk) 13:40, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please advise on how to address the conflict of interest issue? This entry is unbiased and uses various references. Thanks. [[User:Tadavis20|Tadavis20]

It is there because the majority of the content from the article comes from an editor named Hotel Monteleone. This is a conflict of interest issue. It might not mean there are neutrality issues, but there is an obvious affiliation. Wperdue (talk) 16:50, 29 April 2009 (UTC)wperdue[reply]
