Talk:Celestial (Chinese)

In early Sexton Blake Library stories (from 1915), and also a few other boy's adventure stories i have dating from 1935, this term is also used. These stories are from Great Britain and it seems to be applied to chinese people dressed in 'traditional' costume only, such as the large pointy straw hat and loose-fitting dark blue clothes. The main villain of SBL issue 1 (who is Chinese) uses the term himself on occasion. 86.138.26.56 21:39, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Term "Celestial" not an Ethnic slur[edit]

It does not seem to be appropriate to include the template for Ethnic slurs on this page as the term "Celestial" not only doesn't appear in the list of "slurs" on that page, it is in fact the translation of a Chinese term that these emigrants from China used to describe themselves. I have removed the term from the template also. --Funandtrvl (talk) 04:28, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
