The section is missing information about efforts by the Japanese authorities to validate information. Here's a small sample:

Centenarians and Super centenarians in Literature[edit]

Should this article include a link for Lazarus Long, Little Big Man (novel) or The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared? Pentaclebreaker (talk) 15:10, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

Media references[edit]

Doesn't many centenarians receive a larger amount of media references once they turned 100. I don't think we need to list specific examples of them as there are simply thousands out there, and I'm sure there is a Wikipedia policy available regarding those kind of lists.
