Turkish Hashish Exhibition

[edit]

Is this a rumor or did it actually exist? Supposedly people were paying to toke up in a tent back in 1876. True or false?

Exposition or Exhibition

[edit]

The title of this article uses the word Exposition, but the name of the event contains the word Exhibition. Is this on purpose? — Muffuletta 22:47, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We say "Exhibition" in the lead sentence and first two image captions, "Exposition" in the article title and last two image captions. Why? --P64 (talk) 23:16, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ohio House

[edit]

The reference for this (ref 14) needs to be updated to http://www.fairmountpark.org/OhioHouse.asp but I was unable to do so as the reference section is in the form of a reflist and there seemed to be no way to edit the list (that's all you can see). Kgilbert78 (talk) 21:33, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done.
The References section includes only the {{reflist}} code. Reference content is provided and must be edited in the text (in-line). --P64 (talk) 23:16, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinates

[edit]

There were two different sets of coordinates in the article. Both of them sent me to wrong locations. I replaced the set in the infobox with 39.981 N, -75.215 E = 39° 58′ 51.6″ N, 75° 12′ 54″ W. Those coordinates send me right to "Centennial Lake". I compared the map shown in the article with the nowadays lanes in the park as shown to me by Google Maps and cross checked it with OpenStreetMap. Commented out the other coordinate declaration because I've seen those inconsistencies concerning different coordinate sets in the same article just too often. --BjKa (talk) 21:33, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Attendance

[edit]

In the days following the opening ceremony, attendance dropped dramatically, with only 12,720 people visiting the Exposition. The average daily attendance for May was 36,000 and 39,000 for June.

Great Central Fair location?

[edit]

Para. 2 of this article neglects to state where, in what state and city, the 1864 Great Central Fair was held. Add.

Jimlue (talk) 15:06, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have added this.
You could have added it yourself, and if you're confident, making changes yourself is generally quicker than putting something on a talk page.

African American participation

[edit]

I didn't see anything about African Amwricans at the centennial. The above image is at Wikipedia Commons. FloridaArmy (talk) 04:59, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Shoe and Leather Building not mentioned

[edit]

There is no mention of the Shoe and Leather Building in front of the Machinery Building near the entrance of the Centennial Expo. A better copy of the map is shown at https://www.nga.gov/research/library/imagecollections/photographs-of-international-expositions/Philadelphia-Expo-1876.html

A lithograph of the building and detailed info on it is at https://libwww.freelibrary.org/digital/item/2133 24.115.159.0 (talk) 15:50, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
