Wondering how to edit this U.S. City Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Cities standards might help.

Shawn Michaels[edit]

He was born on Williams Air Force Base. Though his biography states that it is in Chandler, this is incorrect, as it has never been part of the city -- it was only recently annexed to a city in the 1980s, and it was Mesa, not Chandler, that did so. -- Miwa * talk * contribs ^_^ 18:22, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Canli[edit]

The Piman name for the town has been removed inasmuch as it is simply transformation of the English name, is not historically significant as a name in the Pima ethnos, and is not even used by Pimas in a formal sense when speaking English (for example: "I went to Canli, oops, I mean Chandler, last week." is not a sentence you would ever hear from a Piman (except possibly mocking his own accent).

Removal of San Marcos Hotel link. first golf resort in arizona[edit]

This IS NOT ADVERTISING. This hotel is a landmark in the town and a historic site. I am not associated with the hotel. Vic dood 01:19, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Structure[edit]

Hi. I'm going through all the US Cities (as per List of United States cities by population) in an effort to provide some uniformity in structure. Anyone have an issue with me restructuring this article as per Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline. I won't be changing any content, merely the order. Occasionally, I will also move a picture just to clean up spacing issues. I've already gone through the top 20 or so on the above list, if you'd like to see how they turned out. Thoughts? Major Revisions to Data in Chandler, AZ Article[edit]

Hi there,

I have made some major changes to this Wikipedia article. Some of the information provided in some parts of this article is outdated. I have since replaced or provided additional information. For example, the Economy section of Chandler, Arizona does not encapsulate enough history. I also organized sections of the article to look more readable.

→ I added revisions to the history of Chandler, adding citations from the official ChandlerpediA website as needed. → I also expanded on Chandler's healthcare. Valleywise is not the only health provider in the City. → Chandler also hosts a Tumbleweed Tree lighting ceremony, not just the Ostrich Festival alone. → I updated the information in the Demographics section of the article to include data from the latest US census (2020). → I updated the infobox settlement to include US census data (2020). I also added a new zip code: 85248. → I expanded the information on the Parks and Recreation section to include Hamilton Aquatic Center. → I updated the government section of the article, specifically council members. → I added a table to include all historical properties listed by the Chandler Historical Society. → I made new sections to make the article more organized.

There are probably a few more things I forgot to list. I changed or added more media to the article. I also updated the flag of Chandler as well as their logo typography. They don't use just the seal anymore.

Of course, I provided citations for these changes.

Before any changes, I have made a rough draft here: Chandler, Arizona rough draft

Please take a moment to review this article, and let me know if you see any discrepancies or errors. I live in Chandler and have been for over a decade, and I'm pretty sure I didn't screw up on anything, but just in case I did feel free to leave a comment on my talk page or add to this one.

Any opposition? Ariauroic (talk) 01:16, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Ariauroic:

Some of the issues with your draft include:

  • A low-quality, over-colorized personal photo in the infobox. (see MOS:IMAGES).
  • This source is user-generated. (see WP:UGC)
  • You cannot remove "citation needed" tags without fixing the problem.
  • You added a section about "US citizenship", citing this source. Where is citizenship mentioned?
  • The section about "Median Earnings by Industry and Gender" is unnecessary (see WP:USCITIES). Also, in section headings, only the first letter is capitalized; "and" should be used rather than ampersands; "Professional, Scientific, & Management" is not a proper noun, so needn't be capitalized.
  • The education section should be about the schools in the city, not about the demographics. (see WP:USCITIES)
  • In the economy section, do not bold words unnecessarily. (see MOS:NOBOLD); do not add external links in place of citations (see WP:EL); avoid using company press releases as reliable sources.
  • "The city is known for having a wide variety of diverse, authentic dining options, with many cuisines from around the world"...is unencyclopedic, as this isn't the city website (see MOS:WTW and WP:NOT)
  • "Here is a conclusive list of all historic properties in Chandler", is unnecessary. Just link to the list.
  • A history of the Price Freeway is unnecessary.
  • The layout should conform to WP:USCITIES.

I would strongly encourage you to make small edits to this article, and carefully read the above. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 10:42, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to help me. I was unaware such parameters existed (such as WP:USCITIES). I have fixed most of the issues in the article.
For your comment on the Price Corridor history, if you are talking about the brief description under "Freeways", I was not the author of that section. If you are talking about "Economy", I have removed any comments on the subject, but I have kept what was previously in the original article.
I removed the user-generated citation, although it is managed by the Chandler Museum as an entity the citation was also not in the original article.
I removed some redundant parts of the "Demographics" section. I will likely add more later, modelling after the original article.
I also conformed the layout to WP:USCITIES as accurately as I could.
Please let me know if there are any other issues. If you give the green light, I will implement the new information on an edit-by-edit basis. Ariauroic (talk) 16:40, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ariauroic: It's not up to me to give the green light. You are free to edit the article as you like. However, if I revert one of your edits again, and cite a policy as the reason for my revert...and you respond again by reverting my edit again, then you will have crossed into disruptive editing. Thanks for your understanding. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:39, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize for reverting your edit(s). I was not aware a talk page existed. I will keep that in mind. Thank you for your help, and thanks for keeping the conversation civil. Ariauroic (talk) 20:46, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Economy: Re-do?[edit]

Hi there,

Information in "Economy" is somewhat outdated, especially since Chandler is now the tech hub of the whole East Valley and the whole Phoenix metro area for that matter. There is data from years ago that isn't up to date now. Considering re-doing that section from scratch. Also, I think it's important to provide a brief history of how Chandler got its economy, so readers understand how Chandler got to its position today.
