Broken sentence?

[edit]

I draw attention to what appears to be a broken sentence with text that may be missing - note abrupt appearance of two citation marks - as well as a succeeding sentence whose information might be worked into the phrasing of the first sentence:

He [1][2] at Targau POW Camp.[3] He was captured by the Germans and interned in a prisoner of war camp.

There is an article on St Michael's Church, Madeley in wikipedia but my attempt to link it to the mention in this article has so far been unsuccessful, leaving a red link that (wrongly in this case) implies the article does not exist. Can someone help remedy this?Cloptonson (talk) 12:12, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Not sure why you had a problem... --MChew (talk) 15:40, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Claimed birthplace needs checking

[edit]

He grew up in Madeley where his father was rector, which may give rise to understanding he was born there. However, a few years ago I read that according to someone whose research was reported in the Shropshire Star newspaper, Yate was recorded on a census to have been born in Germany where his parents were staying apparently. Without the news item to hand, I cannot alter it. Given the anti-German sentiment that swept English society during WWI it is probably understandable that the fact may have been a less comfortable one to broadcast, for fear of the family being perceived to be pro-enemy. I wonder where the birth registration indexes, which would give his full Christian names, place him?Cloptonson (talk) 07:02, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
