It has been suggested that this article or section be merged with Traditional Chinese musical instruments[edit]

I strongly disagree. Traditional Chinese musical instruments is about the the instruments themselves whereas Chinese orchestra is about their use in the modern Chinese orchestra, which is a 20th development modelled on the western symphony orchestra with seperate first, second string sections, wind sections etc. LDHan 10:34, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs expanding to include the history, development and composition of different types of Chinese orchestras, not just the modern large orchestra. LDHan 11:16, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Ancient Orchestra" section[edit]

This section doesn't actually mention an orchestra of any kind. It is about different kind of traditional chinese instruments, but not about any ensemble form, size of these ensembles etc, which would be the point of this section. -- megA (talk) 23:10, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notable orchestras?[edit]

The notable orchestras section is a mess here. What classifies as notable? There are youth, amateur, professional, even non-Chinese orchestras on the list. Some of which are definitely not 'notable' according to my conducting experience. I suggest we either change the section title to 'list of Chinese orchestras' or delete it altogether and open a new 'list' page.Percus (talk) 08:37, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
