Do all criminals executed in the United States pass the notability criteria?--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 20:01, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not, but this guy does --sumnjim talk with me·changes 12:46, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are some jackasses on here who will write about any lowlife murderer just to give them a little bit of fame that they quite frankly don't deserve. This guy was brutal killer and no one should really give a fuck about the method of execution. He sure didn't care about how he murdered his cellmate.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 214.13.167.254 (talkcontribs)
I don't condone his actions, but he passes WP:BIO so a page is not out of the question for him. --sumnjim talk with me·changes 13:54, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Maybe some explanation of why you think he is notable is in order here. We've all seen bios of people who have actually accomplished something nominated for deletion. Aspenocean 14:37, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well, he meets the first criteria for WP:BIO, as there are 3 sources listed on his page linking to articles about him. I'm sure by doing a WP:GOOGLE test, would provide more reliable sources as well. I understand that on WP:BIO it states that just because someone passes one of the criteria, it doesn't necessarily mean they are notable enough to get a Wiki entry. However, it also doesn't state that passing one criteria is NOT grounds for notability. Basically, it's a toss up. It can go either way. So, if you believe he is not notable, then nomintate him for deletion. Personally, I'm neutral on the subject, and don't care one way or the other. Just simply putting in my thoughts. Have a good day. --sumnjim talk with me·changes 18:11, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The notability of his execution often has to do with the total time it took, 2 hours. Though, the total time from the chemicals beginning to flow to death was only about 7 minutes. Most of the 2 hours was spent attempting trying to find a suitable insertion point.

Excerpt from the "Time line of execution": "11:37 a.m.: Signal given for chemicals to begin flowing. 11:39 a.m.: Newton's eyes close. 11:40 a.m.: Newton's belly begins to heave, his chin and face shudder and twitch, and his body twice mildly convulses on the table within his restraints. 11:45 a.m.: Movements stop. 11:51 a.m.: Curtain between witnesses and death chamber is pulled for coroner examination. 11:53 a.m.: Newton declared dead. The link to the photo essay by Joseph Harris is a dead link. Someone might remove it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.116.126.71 (talk) 08:07, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is something wrong with the last paragraph. It starts "The controversy surrounding Newton's execution was primarily attributed to..." What controversy? I came upon this article out of the blue and I don't know what the writer is talking about. He (or she?) seems to have some personal point of view. I think this paragraph should be re-written.SylviaStanley (talk) 17:59, 15 May 2016 (UTC) I was unable to access four out of five references for this article. I have added one myself.SylviaStanley (talk) 18:20, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
