Graphic
[edit]I'm not sure why that Skylab patch picture is in the article at all, and why Scolese's official NASA picture (available from his bio page) is not. Any reason not to pull the bio picture and put it in? -- Pawl 18:30, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- I added his bio picture. Still haven't taken out the Skylab patch, but will do so next time I visit this page unless someone can explain why it is there. -- Pawl 21:34, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Reworking text
[edit]I tried to rework the text of his bio - there was a very confusing lead paragraph that seemed to go back to when the article was first created. I did lose some information about simultaneity of two positions, but I could not confirm this with limited sources, and it didn't seem terrribly important. In August 20007, the lead paragraph will need to be reworked when he assumes the AA position. -- Pawl 18:30, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- Never mind, remembered to do it myself. --- Pawl 20:56, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Neighbor
[edit]He is also my neighbor and a very nice guy with a wonderful family - unlike many of the dorks in the government. Just thought I'd add that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.207.242.4 (talk) 17:36, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Contested deletion
[edit]This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... Christopher Scolese is one of the fundamental people in NASA today being the director of Goddard space center. http://www.nasa.gov/centers/goddard/about/people/scolese.html --2607:F470:6:1006:5CB8:EF1E:7FD8:F6F3 (talk) 03:37, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
Some links, not much
[edit]I've tried to find sources beyond NASA and AIAA for Scolese, and I'm not finding much. I found four NYT articles ([1], [2], [3], [4]) where he is mentioned or quoted, and various articles (eg) about his appointment. He was involved in the controversial decision relating to the space shuttle launch after Columbia: ("Safety official opposes shuttle launch - The July flight is "a done deal," said an ex-shuttle chief. He said he did not think lives were at risk." Philadelphia Inquirer, The (PA) - June 21, 2006) (Discovery to launch despite concerns. Seattle Times, The (WA) - June 18, 2006 Author/Byline: John Johnson Jr., Los Angeles Times)(and other similar). However each is just a short quote or mention. I really don't see where we'll get sufficient third-party material for a bio, although Scolese could be included in the article on NASA but is not. LaMona (talk) 15:35, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
Scolese and JWST
[edit]I've made an edit attempting to emphasize the connection between Scolese and the James Webb Space Telescope. I encourage other editors to review — and hopefully expand upon — this edit. (sdsds - talk) 23:38, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
