Artist guests

[edit]

Normally I would say a list of notable guests would be important, but I think this needs consideration and preparation, when we speak of a place which has had over 5,000 creative residents, across a wide range of disciplines. And at the same time, Wikipedia coverage of painters, writers, composers, potters and sculptors, workers in film and dance, etc., is not like coverage of, say, sportspeople, such as the GAA in Ireland, so many, even if they would qualify, will not have articles. A good start could be to accumulate some names here on Talk, and then consider the extent to which some names could be built into the article. I will kick off with some I have already "bumped into": Jack Doherty, Ciaran Hope, Trevor Joyce, Jean Paul Leon, Tomás O'Maoldomhnaigh, Carol Szymanski, ...

Hi, a search in Wikipedia adds these: Michael Carter (poet), Susan Hubbard, France Jodoin, 2A00:1370:8117:4B0D:6D20:F171:C541:2B37 (talk) 17:59, 10 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Try Fionnuala Collins, who also did a big mural on the local cafe wall, so good Guinness eventually sponsored it.83.220.236.151 (talk) 07:16, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Funding activities and partners

[edit]

The main events, as far as I have heard in diplomatic cultural circles (and many of the 250,000 applications have been from dozens of countries other than Ireland, so there are queries) are:

  • The annual lunch at Patrick Guilbaud's, 500 a place, or maybe more now, and never under-subscribed. The contribution is high but does include some artwork, I believe. Running for 20+ years, maybe.
  • For the last ten or more years, an event at the Arts Centre, the Cill Rialaig 250, where people pay a 250 euro fee and can take away one of a set of artworks, some by famous guests, some by "emerging artists" and some by celebrity supporters of the project. Value never formally declared.

Others who have contributed include Sonia O'Sullivan, national- and world-level runner, led a race across the peninsula. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.24.132.14 (talk) 15:50, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Cill Rialaig printworks

[edit]

I am gathering information on the print production operation. I also see that I may need to do an expansion on the Ballinskelligs article. I can only say thanks again to all contributors, the article grows well, and I will try to include the further sponsor data also.

Photos?

[edit]

I understand that this is about a remote location but surely someone from among staff, committees, 5000+ resident artists, could post a few pictures?
