Christian Left Party of ChileChristian Left — The party is usually referred to as Izquierda Cristiana in Spanish that would translate as the Christian Left in English (I mostly rely on Gooble books results here). I think such a title would be much more suitable (shorter, more frequent in publications). Because there is a redirect page Christian Left --> Christian left, I cannot move it manually, so I'd like to see a sysop do this. Instead of the current re-direct page 'Christian Left' I suggest we create 'Christian Left (disambuguation)' to fulfill that purpose. • Oppose. The subject of the article Christian left is the primary topic for the phrase, and in this case I wouldn't want to try to disambiguate by capitalization. Because of that, this article will need some sort of disambiguation, and using its full name is the best way to do that. (N.B.: I've added a hatnote to Christian left pointing readers to this article.) Powers T 12:17, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The full name in 1970s was definitely Izquierda Cristiana i.e. Christian Left. Nowadays sources and other wikipedias still refer to them as such, and it officially seems to be still the case (see their webpage). 'El Partido' and 'de Chile' are not part of the full name. There are only 5 (!) google books hits for 'Christian Left Party of Chile', compared with over 300 for "christian left" chile 1971 (i hope almost all of them mention the party concerned). Well, if you really prefer Christian Left (political party), I don't care either way, but Christian Left should remain a redirect as it is now. Powers T 17:42, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Is the wiki policy you referred to applicable here? Wrongly capitalized Christian Left is hardly the primary topic of Christian Left. The organization called Christian Left should be the main topic vis a vis a misspelling of the identically called political ideology.Miacek and his crime-fighting dog (t) 18:02, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Policy allows us to differentiate two articles based solely on capitalization, but I don't think it's the best option here. I think the primary topic for Christian Left is exactly the same as for Christian left (the term and its brethren like Religious Right are often capitalized) and I would not support having those titles denote two separate articles. Current title is simply too long, not being the official name either. But Ospalh's suggestion would be my 2nd choice, indeed. Miacek and his crime-fighting dog (t) 13:09, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
