Not exclusive to Hong Kong
[edit]This concept is not exclusive to Hong Kong, there are temples for "town deity" in most of the ancient cities of China. --Voidvector 00:27, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Replaced by an essay?
[edit]This article seems to have been replaced by someone's essay which combines Wikipedia and other sources, which, ironically, seems to refer back to this very article. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 04:06, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
Other societies
[edit]If I remember, it is understood that various old civilizations had a diety to head their cities? For example the ancient semites and sumerians... 76.10.128.192 (talk) 21:44, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Page restored to City God (China)
[edit]I restored this page to City God (China) because the move to Chenghuanshen was made without discussion and contrary to WP:CRITERIA, which indicates the criteria:
- Recognizability – The title is a name or description of the subject that someone familiar with, although not necessarily an expert in, the subject area will recognize.
- Naturalness – The title is one that readers are likely to look or search for and that editors would naturally use to link to the article from other articles. Such a title usually conveys what the subject is actually called in English.
The reason given for moving to Chenghuanshen was that "In the case of multiple translations, as for most Chinese characters, is better to use Chinese." I can see this point, but if there are multiple translations, please simply create redirects. ch (talk) 03:07, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
