Stats for landfill
[edit]Section 3 states that the landfill covered 150 hectares and contained 12 thousand tonnes of trash. Something here doesn't compute. 150 hectares is 1.5 km2 or 1.5 million m2. 12 thousand tonnes is 12 million kg.
This corresponds to 8 kg per m2, or layer of water 8mm deep. Trash may be lighter than water, so we have a layer of trash a couple of cm deep. From another point of view, a person generates on the order of 1 tonne of trash per year. So 12 thousand tonnes of trash could be generated by 1200 people in 10 years.
The correct figure may have been 12 million tonnes, not 12 thousand. In any case, I suspect the 12 thousand tonnes is not correct. Mathyeti (talk) 04:51, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
- One of the sources says that the 12 thousand tonnes figure is just the average of the incoming trash, but it doesn't specify at which rate it received that amount ("durante 65 años recibió un promedio de 12,000 toneladas de desechos").
- If we take into account your data, then we have: 1 tonne of trash per individual each year / 365 days * 1 million of inhabitants = 2,7 thousand tonnes of trash each day. Considering that that landfill was used by other municipalities as well, then it's pretty realistic to say that each day it used to receive 12 thousand tonnes of trash.
- Anyway, I don't think we can add that into the article as no external source says the actual rate. At most we could add that 12 thousand tonnes is just the average. FastedCoyote (talk) 20:33, 4 September 2020 (UTC)
Sicario filmed here
[edit]Should we add that parts of the 2015 film Sicario were filmed here? 76.190.213.189 (talk) 19:20, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
