Might as well take a look at this "at the 2008 Summer Olympics" article as well.

Background

  • "No Comoran athlete has ever one a medal at an Olympic Games."- change one to won.

Athletics

  • "Comoros's youngest competitor, At age 18, Youssouf was the country's oldest competitor, and was competing at his first Olympics." Remove Comoros's youngest competitor, change country's oldest to youngest and add a source at the end.
  • "0.55 second behind the winner, Ivet Lalova." - Second to seconds.
  • "Ahamada was 0.75 seconds behind the fastest athlete and 0.23 seconds behind the slowest athlete who progressed to the semi-finals, Thi Huong Vu."- Mention that Oludamola Osayomi was the fastest.

Swimming

  • Mention that Attoumane was the oldest of the three Comoran athletes.
  • "He finished eighth out of eight in his heat"- Change to last out of eight.
  • "He was 8.17 seconds behind the fastest athlete, Amaury Leveaux. Attoumane was 7.46 seconds behind the slowest athlete that progressed to the semi-finals (Gideon Louw)" - Change to "He was 8.17 seconds behind the fastest athlete, Amaury Leveaux and was 7.46 seconds behind the slowest athlete that progressed to the semi-finals, Gideon Louw"

That's all the issues I could find. Once these are sorted, I will promote this to GA class. good888 (talk) 13:57, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

GA Reassessment[edit]

This discussion is transcluded from Talk:Comoros at the 2008 Summer Olympics/GA2. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the reassessment.

I suggest that this article fails criterion three of the good article criteria, in that it is not broad enough in its coverage. Do they have an Olympic Committee in Comoros that is responsible for the selection of the athletes? How does the selection work? Who else was shortlisted but didn't make it? Who was leading the Olympic delegation in Bejing? What was the team's rank at the opening ceremony? Those are all issues that I would expect a GA class article to cover.

The article's other weakness is its lead and this is relevant to criterion one of the GA criteria, but this is a much lesser issue compared to broadness of coverage. According to MOS, the "lead serves as ... a summary of its most important aspects." The problem is that the lead contains information that is not contained within the article itself. @Schwede66: To be honest I didn't have much experience when I promoted this article to GA class (this was only my fourth GA review), and although I think I can fix most of the issues you have stated, I don't have the time at the moment. Would you mind de-listing for now so that I don't have to worry about fixing it in time? good888 (talk) 12:48, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Good888: Don't feel bad about this. You and I have the same objectives in that we want to build a better Wikipedia. Your contributions as a reviewer of GA articles is much appreciated. But given that Wikipedia is a hugely complex system, it is inevitable that editors may mistakes when they venture into new areas, and that includes GA reviews. I for one are grateful to those who are willing to invest their time into reviewing other editors' articles, and other backroom tasks. I'll drop the article back to B class for now.
