A large body of text has recently appeared in this article. A source has been given for this text - Concord - A Link with the Past', Concord Municipal Council. However, because the material is not in the typical wikipedia style, I would like a confirmation that the contributor has actually written this material, using the source for reference. I have some concerns that copyright may be being breached here. --Alexxx1 23:07, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've sent the council the email below, will see how they respond. -- Nickj (t) 22:15, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Canada Bay council,

There is some content on the Wikipedia article about Concord that
looks like it may have been copied from your predecessor, Concord
Council.

The article is at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concord%2C_New_South_Wales
(Of concern is the "Naming of Concord" section).

Can you please clarify whether you think this content has been copied
from you? If so, can you also please clarify whether you grant us
permission to include this information in the wikipedia?

Our aim is to respect copyrights, but the content was added
anonymously, so we are currently unsure if it is original content or
not, and if is not whether we are allowed to use it. If not, we will
of course remove the offending material.

All the best,
Nick
Hmmm... Perhaps this hasn't reached the top of Council's Things to Do list yet. ;) --Alexxx1 (talk/contribs) 23:38, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually the slackness here is entirely and totally mine, not Council's :( I got this reply in whilst I was on leave in December:

Hi Nick

Sorry for the delay in responding ... It's just that I'm having
difficulty finding out:
* Where this information actually originated from ... And of course
*  If it was correct

Once I have established that Council will advise on its inclusion in the
wikipedia

Unfortunately, at this time of the year a number of staff are on their
Annual Holiday break, therefore, expect a response early in the new year

PS the information did not come from our Website ... May have come from
a community website.

Cheers

To which I have just replied:

Hi Roberta,

Many thanks, and sorry for my slackness in replying (I was on leave in late December & early Jan,
and I'm only just now catching up with the backlog!).

I've noticed that it says "Reference : 'Concord - A Link with the Past', Concord Municipal Council"
for the suspicious content that was added. So I'm wondering whether this a hard copy leaflet or
brochure, that's either been typed up or scanned in, rather than something from a web page.

Given that Concord Council no longer exists, what is the copyright situation? If the copyright flows
to Canada Bay Council, which I'm presuming it probably does, are we able to ask permission to use
this material? If it's not likely to be granted, then I think we should assume it was directly copied
from a council brochure, because the language is consistent with this, and thus remove it.

What do you think?

All the best,
Nick.

Response from Council:
Hi Nick

Council's Director is happy for the information to reside on your
website

Wests Tigers

[edit]

The National Rugby League season 2007 article cites Concord as the base of the Wests Tigers club. Might be worth a mention in this article?--Jeff79 00:34, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
