who's the boss?
[edit]The lead says (excerpted, but not unfairly): The Constitution of the State of West Virginia is the supreme law of the U.S. State of West Virginia. ...its first Article... states that "The constitution of the United States of America, ... shall be the supreme law of the land."(i.e. "land" including the state of W. Virginia). So, which is the supreme law, the constitution of W. Virginia, or the constitution of the United States?Sbalfour (talk) 00:49, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, its is unfairly excerpted, BUT, the law of the land does indeed over WV as well. SPECIFICALLY, "The state of West Virginia is, and shall remain, one of the United States of America. The constitution of the United States of America, and the laws and treaties made in pursuance thereof, shall be the supreme law of the land." Politically (dont laugh) they do this to demonstrate that the supreme office of WV or where the buck stops is the office of Governor, and that WV is a state. This was a real debate as late as 1872.
