American Cost of Living - SS, medicare etc are all based off cost of living, however it is not calculated to include Fuel and Food. Could someone please add this information into this article?

That's not true. SS is indexed to the CPI-W, which includes fuel and food. The "core CPI" excludes food and fuel because these change dramatically month by month. The core CPI is used by the media and Federal Reserve since it gives a better picture of the long term inflation rate than the volatile main CPI. The core CPI is not used for any official adjustments, so all adjustments include food and fuel. This is out of the scope of this article (which deals with the economic theory behind consumer prices indexes) anyway.--Bkwillwm (talk) 01:05, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

External Links: Comparative Cost of Living by U.S. State -- is this seriously taken as a legitimate source? It kind of makes me wonder: What ever happened to geocities. 67.137.121.106 (talk) 22:51, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How does currency figures in CPI when comparing the CPIs across different nations?
