Copyvio in "Abandonment"
[edit]At least some of this page appears on the [thecracosociety.org] website. (NOTE that I had to view the page's source to find the text. I don't know if or how it will appear for others. I found the page looking for a population citation.)
Specifically and at least, "The geological threat to the town was known to scientists since 1910, due to Craco's location on a hill of Pliocene sands overhanging the clays, with ravines causing progressive incisions."
I do not know which came first.

I agree. The entire section on "Abandonment" repeats part of the text at http://thecracosociety.org/history.htm. Given that The Craco Society's piece is much longer, I presume that the WP text was lifted. The WP section needs to be vastly rewritten. — Molly-in-md (talk) 18:49, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

What was the cause of the "abandonment"? -failed pipework? -landslide? -other?
[edit]The second sentence in the lede states "It was abandoned towards the end of the 20th century, due to faulty pipe work that was thought to have failed, causing the town to be abandoned due to a land slide." This makes no sense whatsoever. It describes an outcome (abandonment) but cites two completely unrelated causes (failed, faulty pipework, and a landslide). Can anyone makes sense of this?
