Name Change?

[edit]

Did the organization change their name at all? Since last year all the campus groups on my campus called "Campus Crusade for Christ" were changed to "Campus for Christ". Is this a local thing, or through the whole organization? I was under the impresssion they all changed. --Chewy

I would think if there was an organization-wide name change you would see it on the corporate Web sites and in their pressroom. Both www.ccci.org and www.campuscrusadeforchrist.com continue to use the full name. --Sixtrojans 14:26, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There has not been an organization-wide name change. Local campus chapters of Campus Crusade for Christ often use a shorter name that the staff members feel will be inviting to students. "Cru," shortened from Crusade is a common one. --Markww 17:39, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Canada recently changed the name of the campus ministry to Campus for Christ. Other parts of the world have different names as well. 219.79.92.230 (talk) 13:24, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited a new paragraph in the lead section of the article citing a 2011 NYT article with explanation of the name change, which appears to be in effect globally now. Carhutt (talk) 12:56, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Recent addition of change of leadership

Just to clarify, this info WOULD be acceptable in this article if it can be sourced in an Independent Source WP:IS like a newspaper, for example.---Avatar317(talk) 03:45, 10 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested edits

[edit]

I work on behalf of Cru, so as a result of the Wikipedia Conflict of Interest rules, I will not edit the article directly. However, the information on the page is outdated so I will suggest some sources that could improve the article here.Within the history section, it should be added that on July 18, 2024, David Robbins became Cru's fourth president, succeeding Steve Sellers. (David Robbins named new president of Campus Crusade for Christ International)

Under the "ministries and partners" section below The Jesus Film Project, it should state that today the JESUS film is available in more than 2,100 languages. (Most-translated movie, ‘Jesus,’ hits 2,100 languages, expe)

Finally, within the first paragraph of the page, the number of staff should be updated to say that in 2024, the organization has 16,000 staff members serving in 190 countries.
