Cubert
[edit]I'm not sure this is correct.
'The village is named after the Welsh Missionary St Cubert who, as a companion of St Carantock, brought the Christian Faith to this part of Cornwall, and to whom the Church is dedicated. Unlike his companion St Carantock who travelled on to Brittany, St Cubert returned to Wales becoming Abbot of his Monastery and, according to the Welsh Chronicles, dying in 775 A.D'
I can not find much info on St Cubert , but if he did travel with St Carantock the date of cubert's death can not be right - Carantock was born in 470 AD —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nedlo (talk • contribs) 15:07, August 20, 2007 (UTC).
- My Dictionary of English Placenames says Cubert is from St Cuthbert, but I think that St Cubert may be a variant of Cybi. DuncanHill (talk) 17:19, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
