[edit]Just noticed this story, although I'm not sure if it will put the Category discussions to bed. BOM says Cat4 - http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200703/s1878483.htm Hoxygt 07:33, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the notification. Interesting. – Chacor 08:18, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, land observations proved it wasn't as strong as previously thought. However, the Categories in the infoboxes only give the maximum intensity of the cyclone during its whole lifespan. It did briefly reach Cat.5 before landfall, according to the BOM report. RaNdOm26 11:45, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Question is, when was the BOM report last updated? The news article does not say that it was downgraded *at landfall*, and the BOM report itself says it made landfall as a 4. I believe the news article means the BOM has downgraded it from its peak. I'm willing to email the BOM to ask, if needed. – Chacor 13:09, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- I've emailed the BOM. Time to wait for a response. – Chacor 13:24, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- A pdf BOM report was created on March 20 2007. RaNdOm26 09:34, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Interesting. Well, an initial email reply from the BOM would suggest that it retained Cat5 status at peak, but they said to email back if I had further queries, so I did. I'm expecting a reply on Monday from the QLD tech officer. – Chacor 10:02, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

The dearth of bananas
[edit]Added detail concerning their banana losses that I noticed with the AMS State of the Climate report for 2006, which was published during the past month. There may be information for other basins within the article, but the southern hemisphere portion focused on Larry and the lack of bananas. Thegreatdr 15:20, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
- Article says that banana prices were "as high as $13-35/kg". Either the prices were as high as $35/kg, or they weren't. They can't be as high as only $13 as well as some higher amount.--Jeffro77 (talk) 10:05, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- It's one banana, Michael, how much could it cost? Ten dollars? I came to this article after someone made that joke/reference to see how much bananas cost during this incident because I'm pretty sure I remember thinking of Arrested Development when at the store --Einsidler (talk) 00:50, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
Update
[edit]There is an update template on this article, suggesting that there is additional information available in reliable sources that has not yet been added to the article, however there haven't been substantial changes to article content in over two years. If someone has updated information from reliable sources to add to the article, please do so.--Jeffro77 (talk) 03:40, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Meaningless statement
[edit]As part of a recent copyedit, I have removed the statement, "Apart from Ingrid, Larry is the first severe tropical cyclone to cross the Queensland east coast since Rona in 1999." Hopefully no one will complain about this, as even though the statement had a source, it is essentially meaningless. It's like saying, apart from the other people who've edited this article this year, I'm the first person to edit this article since 2009.--Jeffro77 (talk) 14:43, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
