General copyedit remarks

[edit]

I've gone through the article and gave it a complete read and edit, and here's some comments about it:

  • "February 2005 outbreak" -> Outbreak where? Which sea?
  • A track map of the menage-a-trois with Depression 20S and 24S would be interesting.
  • The area of responsibility of the storm is a bit irrelevant, but I'm not sure if it should be taken out.
  • Why are knots mentioned first sometimes, mph other times, when the area uses km/h? Be consistent throughout the article.
  • Don't link to Category χ every single time; it is completely unnecessary.
  • Are these categories in the Australian cyclone intensity scale or the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale?
  • "Forecasters predicted..." is used too much; could the actual agency that issued the forecasts be specified every once in a while to remove the repetitiveness?
  • In the Preparations section, you need to put a date in if you say "within 12-24 hours". The reader gets lost otherwise.
  • In the American Samoa / Tokelau section: How long did Swains Island remain incommunicated? I believe that contact with the island must have been resumed eventually, therefore the paragraph needs to be modified to include that. That explains the {{fact}}.
  • "Of the buildings and houses destroyed or severely damaged, only ten were left standing." That sounds wrong. If they were destroyed, how were they left standing?

Overall, the article needs more meat (mostly dates) in the Impact and Aftermath sections, but it is excellent otherwise. Titoxd(?!? - help us) 22:57, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I did a general copyedit and changed some things around. Is it ready for A or GA Class ? Storm05 17:05, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
GA has to be applied at WP:GAN. For A-Class, you need to ask at the assessment page for other editors' opinion. Titoxd(?!? - help us) 18:48, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

References absolutely must be formatted using {{cite web}} formatting (or the appropriate equivalent). That's really my only problem with this article. —CuiviénenT|C|@ on Wednesday, 31 May 2006 at 01:57 UTC

I formatted the References and copyedited a bit. Storm05 17:45, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GA Sweeps Review: Pass

[edit]

As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing sweeps to go over all of the current GAs and see if they still meet the GA criteria. I'm specifically going over all of the "Meteorology and atmospheric sciences" articles. I believe the article currently meets the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. I have made several minor corrections throughout the article (remember that inline citations go directly after the punctuation). Altogether the article is well-written and is still in great shape after its passing in 2006. Continue to improve the article making sure all new information is properly sourced and neutral. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I have updated the article history to reflect this review. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 00:27, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
