DBE (disambiguation) → DBE – This is a proposal to move the dab page over DBE, which currently is a redirect to the Order of the British Empire – in that context "DBE" stands for Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, one of the five titles covered in that article. However, this title is not the primary topic – a search either on the web, or on google books – returns relatively few results for the title compared to a number of other topics like Disadvantaged business enterprise or Double-balloon enteroscopy. See also the related RM at "MBE" for further context. – Uanfala (talk) 21:12, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
- Support per nom.--Ortizesp (talk) 14:43, 16 April 2020 (UTC)
- Support Correct me if I am in error but this proposal is to redirect DBE to DBE (disambiguation)? If that is the case I support the proposal. Anthony Staunton (talk) 02:15, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
- Almost. The proposal is to rename DBE (disambiguation) to DBE. Generally, we can't have a page "X" be a redirect to "X (disambiguation)" because of the naming conventions. – Uanfala (talk) 13:53, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose. The postnominal letters DBE are held by hundreds (thousands?) of people in the UK and Commonwealth countries, and the overwhelmingly popular use of "DBE" in Enwiki is those postnominal letters, as a search for Enwiki articles containing "DBE" shows. - This was touched on at greater length in the RM over at "MBE", but we should be careful not to turn a convention adopted for editorial convenience on biography articles into the basis for deciding primary topics – wikipedia is not representative of reality, or of the internet. Looking at the first 30 results of a web search for "DBE", I only see a single hit for the title, and that's the wikipedia page. – Uanfala (talk) 12:35, 18 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose. Clear primary redirect. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:25, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
- Support per Uanfala. I am seeing the same thing with a Google search with most results for disadvantaged business enterprise. Wikipedia should reflect the world and not vice versa. Also, it is unlikely that someone would search "DBE" to find any particular DBE recipient. buidhe 18:45, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
- Support. I googled the term and the first page of results were all Disadvantaged business enterprise for me. I then switched my region to UK and tried again, and this time the first result was DBE (disambiguation), the second was Order of the British Empire, and the rest of the first page consists of various online dictionaries for "DBE" (including wikt:DBE), Department of Basic Education, and some apparently non-notable DBEs. Go to the second UK page and, again, a page mostly filled with Disadvantaged business enterprise. So nothing seems very primary to me. If you want to conduct a scientifically rigorous test, follow the procedure I described in my "Comment" in the MBE discussion, as the existing pageviews are pretty wonky. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 01:34, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
