Hello all. The entry for "Dakota Jackson" is my first Wikipedia article and I would like to improve it. The page has been flagged with several problems. Does anyone have recommendations for how to proceed? I do not not have a close connection to the subject and will rewrite problematic prose. Most sentences are backed up by reliable sources; examples of how to improve neutrality are appreciated. Thank you. Coda-fy (talk) 03:47, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

RfC: How can I improve the neutrality of this article?

[edit]

This designer bio page has been flagged with several problems. Does anyone have recommendations for how to proceed? I do not not have a close connection to the subject and will rewrite problematic prose. Most sentences are backed up by reliable sources; examples of how to improve neutrality are appreciated. Thank you. Coda-fy (talk) 02:38, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

My goodness! Almost every peacock term in existence is in this article. The whole thing is written as a tribute, not a neutral description. Where to start??! The whole tone of the article is more suitable for a fan magazine, with colourful, promotional adjectives and detail which would only be of interest to the subject and his friends. Encyclopedia articles should use a plain, factual style. Example:
"In the late 1960s, Jackson moved out of his parents’ home and into a 2,100 square foot, $150-a-month loft on 28th Street in Manhattan’s former flower district.[1][14] After the move to Chelsea, Jackson was “swept up” in the Downtown scene and became part of the vibrant community of artists, dancers, performers, and musicians. who flocked there for the cheap rent, experimental creative venues, and buzzing social life"

Anne Delong, thank you for the example above. Wikimandia, thank you for your comment as well. I have revised the entire article. Additional feedback is appreciated. Also, if the article is now up to Wikipedia standards, how do I go about removing the tags from the top?Coda-fy (talk) 03:47, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Admins, this article was flagged by Kavdiamanju with several tags. I have asked for assistance on this talk page and at the biographies of living persons noticeboard. Based on that feedback, I have made many changes to the article. I am now trying to have the tags removed. I have posted the following on Kavdiamanju's talk page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Kavdiamanju#Dakota_Jackson) but have not received a reply.

"Hello. You flagged this article about Dakota Jackson with several tags: "Multiple Issues" "Advert" "COI" and "POV". I do not know the subject and do not have a conflict of interest; I am just a thorough writer. I have since reached out to other editors for recommendations and have made extensive edits at their suggestions. Also, almost all sentences are backed up by reliable sources such as the New York Times, The New Yorker, and writers known for their coverage of the art and design worlds. Please remove these tags or provide specific examples about how the article can be improved so as to eliminate advert/coi/pov concerns. —Coda-fy (talk) 01:39, 13 July 2015 (UTC)"

How do I get the tags removed? Thanks for your input. Coda-fy (talk) 23:21, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This does not require the attention of an admin. This is an editing issue/maintenance tag issue. If you require more information about maintenance tags and how they can be used and removed, please read WP:TC. Essentially anyone can remove maintenance tags but if the removal is contested, you must seek a WP:CONSENSUS on this talk page to do so. If you have further questions, I would recommend asking them at the WP:TEAHOUSE. Mkdwtalk 20:13, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the information, Mkdw. I've removed the tags as per above. If this removal is contested, will seek Consensus. Coda-fy (talk) 13:39, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
