[edit]The sentence "Darcy Clay committed suicide at his girlfriend's house soon after this performance" seems to have become disconnected from some sort of proceeding statement somewhere in the edit process, although I can't really see where. What performance? No performance is mentioned in the two paragraphs before that sentence.
- I'd assume the performance the author meant is opening for Blue in 1997. Not certain though.
-- I'm pretty sure thats waht they were talking about. Isn't interesting how any musician who dies before their time always performs/records one weirdly poetic song before they die? Darcy and "Candle in the Wind" ("Your candle burned out long before your legend ever will", Kurt Cobain and his ironic "Come as you are" line: "And I swear I don't have a gun" Jeff Buckley who sang "Stay with me under these waves tonight" who went missing while swimming in the Mississippi.... 222.154.13.163 09:04, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Needs a little bit of tidying up of details and there is no verifiable references I'd suggest a starting point would be the Sunday Star newspaper article http://www.stuff.co.nz/sundaystartimes/4493690a19799.html Darcy Clay - Ten years on by Tim Hume Wednesday, 23 April 2008. to check against what is written here - remember however that you cannot copy text from other websites without a GFDL-compatible license as Wiki will delete it, but you should be able to tidy up what you already have here referencing that article Tel NZ (talk) 10:08, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Darcyclay.jpg
[edit]Image:Darcyclay.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:27, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Suicide?
[edit]I've not been able to find any source that clearly states that Darcy Clay's death was in fact a suicide. The initial newspaper reports indicated only that he was "found dead." The only comments from police cited in the sources I've read state that the death was considered "not suspicious" and that "no one else was being sought in connection with the death." The first article to mention suicide was the Dominion article dated 17 March 1998, and this it does without citing police or other authorities. And later, a 27 March 1998 Christchurch The Press article only restates that the death was considered "not suspicious." Though subsequent editorials and memorials relate his death as a suicide, there doesn't appear to have been any verifiable affirmation that it was so. Can anyone provide something? - As this article explains, for legal reasons New Zealand journalists have to be very careful about using the "S" word until after the coroner's inquest has been completed, and early media reports often use coded euphemisms like "not suspicious" and "no one else is being sought". This Sunday Star Times memorial (published 10 years after his death) makes it clear it was suicide. --Muzilon (talk) 12:00, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
