Darkinung pages as at Dec 2019
[edit]- Darkinung redirects to Darkinung people (Kwami Feb 2019), prev. to Darkinjung since 2006.
- Darkinjung used to be about the people, was changed in 2011 by an IP-editor to be about the land council for a different geographical area. It has the edit history for both.
- Darkinyung is the AIATSIS spelling. It redirects to Darkinjung language, not people. Was pointed to Darkinyung language, but a bot removed the double redirect.
- Darkiñung, Darkinjang, and Darkinoong still redirect to Darkinjung, and haven't changed since 2006.
- Darkinung language, Darkinyung language, and Darkiñung language all redirect to Darkinjung language, and all have no changes since creation in 2006.
- Darkinjung people redirects (move by sphilbrick 2014) to Darkinjung, which is now about the land council; Darkinung people is a separate stub, created 2017; Darkinyung people and Darkiñung people pages don't exist.
- Darkinjung Land Council or Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council doesn't yet exist.
- Special:PrefixIndex/Darkin also reveals Darkinjang language, Darkinoong language. All redirects, unchanged since 2006.
- The nav box has both Darkinung and Darkinjung.

Spelling
[edit]Kwamikagami has proposed that we use AIATSIS spelling for aboriginal groups. In the absence of any other official orthography, and with no clearly predominant common name, I plan to boldly move Darkinung people to Darkinyung people. I do note that Ford (2010) prefers spelling Darkiñung, but don't feel his authority trumps AIATSIS right now. Luckily Darkinyung people doesn't yet exist and I can do the move without summoning an admin. Pelagic (talk) 17:45, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia:WikiProject Languages/Confirmed language names at AIATSIS at S65, but contrast List of Australian Aboriginal group names which follows Tindale's spelling Darkinjung with a 'j'. Pelagic (talk) 17:53, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
@Pelagic: Should the other be moved to Darkinjung Land Council? It's a bit confusing to have otherwise identical names that differ only by an arbitrary orthographic choice. — kwami (talk) 06:13, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
