The BBC article linked at the bottom of the list of external links has his birthday as 1947-09-17, but the libdems.org.uk site at the top of that list has his birthday as 1942-07-09. Any idea which one is correct? --Wwhyte 14:32, 22 January 2006 (UTC)he was born in 1942 beacuase he is currently 78.

BBC is clearly wrong - all other sources agree on the 1942 date.
