Factual Errors to Correct

[edit]

The Wall Street Journal has nothing to do with DealStreetAsia or Nikkei. WSJ is owned by News Corp not Nikkei. Nikkei owns the Financial Times (FT)

DealStreetAsia company name

[edit]

The name of the article is Dealstreetasia, but the company's name uses Camel Case (DealStreetAsia[1]). Can this page be permanently moved and properly named?

Make Article More Neutral

[edit]

This article has already been re-written by a person with no connection to DealStreetAsia. Thank you Robertsky. Now there is a new flag that it could be improved and written to confirm to a higher standard of quality.

  • What I think should be changed:

You can look at the page history and see the edits have been made over time by different, unrelated people. I think the article in its current state is neutral and the fanboy tag should be removed.

  • Why it should be changed:

for the reasons stated above.

  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Fancruft

A search on Wikipedia alone returns 100 independent references from companies that point to DealStreetAsia. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?search=dealstreetasia&title=Special%3ASearch&fulltext=1&ns0=1

@Sagekreyol: I believe you copied the edit request template wrongly and fixed it for you. I agree that the article had been reworked to be more better now but as the last edit is tagging the article as fancruft will probably requires another editor to review and remove if appropriate. Even if other wikipedia articles references DealStreetAsia's articles, it does not implies anything about the state of the current article. I am leaving this to other editors to assess and remove the tag if appropriate.
Also, if you have an account, do remember to sign in. --Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 09:14, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@MrsSnoozyTurtle: do you have any comments? DarthFlappy 19:20, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Justanothersgwikieditor| I'm still learning how to navigate this Sagekreyol (talk) 01:07, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@MrsSnoozyTurtle:Can you help remove the fancruft tag please? Sagekreyol (talk) 03:41, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Sagekreyol. Sure, I'd be happy to have a try. From this discussion, it looks like you have a COI for DealStreetAsia, but it is not disclosed in accordance with WP:COI? Regards, MrsSnoozyTurtle 07:47, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
MrsSnoozyTurtle, stepping in here since I was the one putting the disclosure template on the talk page here. He did declare on his talk page that he is an employee of the company, Special:Diff/1029823780. That should suffice for this COI. – robertsky (talk) 09:06, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@MrsSnoozyTurtle: So what else is there to do? I used the COI weeks ago and someone else independently rewrote the post. Can you remove the fancruft tag please? Sagekreyol (talk) 07:43, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The reason for the tag being added has not been addressed, so it would not make sense to remove the tag. As a Paid Editor, you are welcome to suggest such improvements. MrsSnoozyTurtle 12:03, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@MrsSnoozyTurtle: Could you clarify what issue has not been addressed? As – robertsky has pointed out, I had a COI flag on the article. Then – robertsky re-wrote the article. Subsequently, you made additional edits and then added the tag that it is not neutral and appears to be written by from a fan's point of view. What specific edits need to be made to this article so that you can remove the tag you placed? Sagekreyol (talk) 05:39, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Sagekreyol, it's the WP:NPOV issue that is not yet addressed. Also another editor has raised an additional concern with the article in its current form. Regards, MrsSnoozyTurtle 08:02, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
MrsSnoozyTurtle, er... i believe the only one who is raising the concern about the article in its current form is you. – robertsky (talk) 15:47, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fancruft tag appears to have been removed, so I am closing this request. If there are other concerns, please post a new request below. Z1720 (talk) 18:13, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of Interest

[edit]

Hi Justanothersgwikieditor,

If the COI tag is already here on the talk page, why is there health warning added to the main article? This disclosure has been up for quite some time and the COI tag was just recently added Sagekreyol (talk) 08:37, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sagekreyol, thanks for asking this question. Talkpage is predominantly meant for editors, typical readers will not read the talkpage. Hence there is so-called duplication of information across the article and talkpage.
So now, on the talkpage, we (aka editors) know you are connected to the company. On the article, reader knows that the article is written by someone connected to the company and may have promotional writings.
The COI notice can be removed by any non-involved editors, such as MrsSnoozyTurtle who I believed placed the tag first or Robertsky who had revamped the article, or any other editors (including me also), as long an editor felt that it is factual enough and we can then remove the notice. I believed Robertsky is deferring to MrsSnoozyTurtle to remove the COI notice per the above conversation. Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 08:48, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Justanothersgwikieditor. I won't touch the page anymore. Sagekreyol (talk) 08:59, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Justanothersgwikieditor, well, MrsSnoozyTurtle placed the tag despite numerous attempts by different editors, myself included, to address the perceived COI-ness and the NPOV of the article. Personally, I felt not much esle can be changed with the current set of sources and enough have been done to address whatever issues that have been perceived. ┐(‘~` )┌ – robertsky (talk) 09:04, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
