Hard Work Sentences[edit]

Deleted the following sentences from the end of the 2nd paragraph of the Content section: "One particularly interesting section of the song lists the many different types of 'hardwork' that she believes the president hasnt taken part in. The fact that many people find odd is that on research, one will find no mention of the artist ever making a bed out of cardboard, working minimum wage with a baby on the way, or anything else she considers 'hardwork'. This hypocrisy nullifies the effect of the song for many, leading one to believe that Pink hasn't done much hardwork herself."

Aside from the spelling, grammar and lack any citations for the assertions, this is presented in an antagonistic, editorial style. Appears to have been tagged on. Deriobamba (talk) 21:26, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pink has never directly said that the song was in reference to President Bush. If she does then please submit a source that says that is the case. The controversial phrases of her could be used for other Presidents. She did not mention actual things that can be linked to Bush. Did Bush do any cocaine? Wasn't it Clinton publicly admit to doing drugs and who also has a daughter? I am not saying that her song is about Clinton what I am saying is that her song is about the position of U.S. President regardless of who is in office. Her song though does refer to Bush albeit in a indirect way. But the text can still say that her song be hinted at Bush. By the way in the text I saw that Buh was refered to as contampous (sp?). Were is the source to that?

Here, and if you're the anonymous editor whom I've been edit warring with, that's the reference that you've been removing. I've added two other references that leave no doubt remaining that she specifically intended for the current and sitting President to be the subject of the song. As for the cocaine allegations, those are specific to President Bush; see this Salon discussion of the book in which those allegations were raised, pre-2000 elections. They may or not be true, but they're fairly specific. Clinton said that he tried marijuana but didn't inhale [1]; as I remember from the interview, he said it tasted and smelled horrible. "Contemporaneous" means "at the same time;" Bush was President at the time the song was written, which is self-evidently true by looking at his date in office and looking at the date the song was written. Ok I read it. I still don't agree since Pink directly does not say it is Bush. She just talked about the current Presidency and some of the problems it has created. But she did not directly say that the song was just about Bush. But rest assure I will stop this editing war (phew). I also did the editing just to see when your breaking point was. All you had to do was explain yourself, you finally figured that out. One final point. There is no proof that Bush did cocaine. The salon source can say whatever it wants to. But again I won't argue anymore on that. I will see during the next Presidency and after that if Pink will sing that song and aim that song at that President. If she does then I will be back. ;)

I left several messages on your talk pages asking to talk. Also, editing just to find another editor's breaking point is not only against Wikipedia policy but is also... well, immature. It is said[edit]

"It is said..." This doesn't sound right to me. What about, "It seems to be" or something that sounds less like a rumour, since the song is fairly undoubtedly about Bush.

Controversy?[edit]

At least one radio station in German (RPR1) cuts out the lines: "What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away? And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?

I can only imagine what the first lady has to say You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine."

However, I cannot find a reference to this being done or an explanation why (defamation?). I also have not identified whether all German radio stations do this or whether it is limited to RPR1.Littlst (talk) 23:24, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I couldn't identify any radio station cutting lines. Probably a hoax. The only instance I know of where a song was partly censored was Prince's 'Motherfucker' where the incest-suggesting word was digitally replaced with a 'MF'. ---Arotto (talk) 21:27, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Single in the US?[edit]

This song is currently being played by the top "Pop/Top 40" station in Boston. Does that mean it's technically a "single" now? I'm not sure how this should be incorporated into the article, if at all? Tommy 07:04, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
